Default Museum Delivery Question

Could anyone who has taken Museum Delivery of their new Vette tell me if they had to pay BOTH the Museum Delivery charge AND the Destination Fee? Thanks for your help.

Yes. Everyone, no matter where you live, pays the same $800 delivery charge. The $495 goes to the Corvette Museum for their preparation, museum tour, plant tour and it is worth every penny.

It was worth the cash. As a matter of fact in the future it will be the only way I will take delivery.

I would love the museum delivery but don't think it's worth paying $495 extra just to get the car on display and a special tour. It bothers me that we still have to pay the $800 shipping charge to send the car across the street. You would think some special consideration (or common sense), would come into play here to eliminate or reduce the shipping charge with a museum delivery.

Here are a couple of links to other threads about this same discussion. I for one would love to do the museum delivery, just for the experience. I do believe its a once in a lifetime experience and would thoroughly enjoy it. However, it is a personal decision. To some, it may very well not be worth the extra cost. Good luck in making a decision. I hope these links help answer some of your questions and allow you to make an informed decision.

Thanks to all who responded. I'm in for the delivery experience, just wanted to be sure I wasn't being "taken" for a ride on the pricing.

Not only is it worth every penny and then some, your car will look the best it ever will. Also, keep in mind that if there is anything not quite right with the car, the plant is just across the street. and will be taken care of before delivery. Try that with any dealer
Besides, it's all part of the new Corvette Experience. Go for it and enjoy.

i agree. i would feel much better about paying $1295 instead of $495 for museum delivery and nothing for destination.

Here is the post I make in all NCM delivery charge threads...

Yes, there is still a destination charge.

Reason. All vehicles that are ever produced must be shipped on a “Certified Shipper” the shipping company is union. They must get paid for each vehicle produced. No matter if it is going to California or right across the street it is the same cost. In the past depending on where you live you were charged accordingly. People in California were charged excessive amount and people in St Louis were getting off cheap. People got smart and started picking them up at St. Louis dealers or the plant at that time.

The NCM delivery charge pays for the prep of the vehicle, time of the NCM staffer working with you, and the paperwork that is required. The NCM delivery option is awesome. It is a small price t pay for such an awesome experience.

BTW: The NCM is not a part of GM. We are a 501 (c) (3) organization.

I will do Museum delivery next time. For those of you who have done it, how did you negotiate your price? It would seem, that since the dealer both makes a profit on your sale and gets an allocation, they would be willing to deal. On the other hand, since it is an order and not a car on the lot, do you loose bargaining power? Did you talk to several dealers at the same time and pick the best deal?

I'm probably 2 years away, still enjoying my '04, waiting until I can get a vert and LS7.

thers really not too much bargaining power because they are so new. i paid msrp in sept when i ordered. kerbeck is discounting $2500 for in stock cars. i dont think you will get any discounts on ordered cars and the museum delivery is added to the bill as an option i believe.

My "once in a lifetime experience" has now happened three times and it is the only way I ever want to take delivery of a new Vette. I'm hoping to have the "experience" again when we see the C7s hit the streets!!

Regardless of how they phrase it, your wallet will feel the same.

Huh?

I'm willing to pay the $495 for the museum delivery and think the experience would be fantastic but, not the $800 for shipping the car across the street. Heck, I'd pick the car up from the plant and drive it across the street myself to the museum, to eliminate that $800 shipping charge.
