Default Compass Calibration/Variance

Finally figured out the owners manual is wrong in how to set the Magnetic Variance. On page 2-35 it says to "press and hold the left map light button until a zone number appears on the display". This does nothing but turn on the map light.

What you really have to do is, press and hold the on/off button for the automatic dimming feature of the mirror. This is the left hand button on the front of the mirror next to the Onstar buttons. If you press and hold it for a few seconds, the Compass will change and show the Zone it is set to, then just keep tapping the button mulitiple times until your zone shows. Once you stop pressing the button, it will return to the compass heading.

I am not sure why the manual says to press the Map light button, like I said, all this does is turn the light on and off.

Thanks. I'll have to change mine. I think the default is set for Bowling Green.
