Shifting from Park to Drive is at times difficult. I really have to press down on the shifter to make it work.I'm pressing the brake pedal so that's not the problem. Anyone else experienced this?
Yes, I'm experiencing that on the new shifter my dealer put on when my old one didn't recognize PARK. It's only happened about 3 or 4 times in the 2 weeks since they replaced it. I just press & release the button 2 or 3 times and jiggle the shifter a little.

A $50K car and you have to "jiggle the shifter". That is laughable.
Are you parking on an incline? Did you set the parking brake before releasing the brakes? It is not unusual for an auto trans to be difficult to get out of Park if the car puts any torque on the gears. If the car moves at all after being put into P, it can cause this problem.

Just an additional thought.
Yep, that's my experience too. If the car rolls at all after you put it in park and release the foot brake, it is going to be balky coming out of park. That's actually pretty normal for an automatic, my truck does it too. You're loading the vehicle weight against the parking pawl. Setting the parking brake before putting it in park is the way to avoid the problem.
That said, I'm not too keen on the notion that I must have my foot on the brake in order to shift the tranny in or out of park. That bit of lawyer inspired *** covering doesn't sit well with me. While doing it is good driving practice, enforcing it gives us another doodad that can act up and cause trouble.
None of the times that my problem happened was I parked on an incline. In addition, it's happening with a replacement shifter for the original one. The original one sometimes would not "recognize" when it was in PARK.
If it continues to happen, I'll try using the parking brake before PARK, but that's not my preference. Never had this problem with my last 3 or 4 cars.

They replaced the whole shifter instead of adjusting the switch? Dummies! Ok, in that case, they probably installed the new shifter incorrectly too. Take it to a *competent* mechanic and have it fixed.

I'm the one who started this thread and thank you, Members, for your help. I can always count on this Forum to come through. And you did in deed.
Engaging the parking brake did the trick. No more problems. Thank You one and all.
