Default What did I do wrong?

At the recent car show I sat in a C6, I sat in the car & tried to get a picture of the lighted guage cluster, it dimmed so I opened the door and shut it again to reilluminate the guages, I got the picture and tried to exit. Nothing.. pushed the button again and again.. the C6 would NOT let me out! Passenger side.. same thing!

Was this just a sign from the Corvette Gods that I was to stay in a C6? or is it just really bad to shut yourself in the car without the Fob?

Anyway.. a guy waiting in line saw that I was about ready to make a Dukes of Hazard exit out of the open targa so he opened it from the outside.. and then chuckled at me. So I stood there until HIS turn was over.. and HE TOO couldn't get out.

Eh, nevermind. Found this post (which didn't come up the first time I searched before I posted)

In passive mode, if you are in the car without a fob (I don't know how you would do this unless a door was left wide open ), the doors will automatically be locked, however there is a manual release bar at the bottom of each door to provide easy exit. All of these functions are programmed through the computer by the user.

This definitely was a case of an uninformed salesman not being familiar with the features of the car. As far as early build problems, there have been very few reported on this forum. Two cases of possible defective Fuel Sending Units, a couple of Homelink sun visors left off the cars, and some isolated minor issues. I don't know of any significant or widespread issues that are common to this car...yet. Mine will be built this week and I'm not really too concerned over the early build. If there are problems, my dealer is 15 minutes away and has a good service department with an excellent Corvette technician.

It seems to be a fantastic car and worth a second look.

I have my car for three months now and have had no problems at all. I do, however, keep my car set in the manual lock mode. This means I lock it by pushing lock on the remote. It still unlocks automatically when I pull the door membrane.

One additional note: the car automatically locks when it is in motion. If the car is left running (you haven't hit the "off" switch) and you want to exit, you have to hit the unlock switch to activate the open button on the inside of the door.

In retrospect, the car is even better than I expected...and I expected a lot!

I've been in and out of mine many times without the FOB, and every time the button doesn't open the door, pressing the unlock button and then the door button has always let me out. As far as I know, if the button doesn't open the door, pressing unlock followed by another press of the door button always will. Of course, there are so many permutations that maybe I missed some cases where not even that sequence will work and you have to use the manual release.
