Interesting news, wonder why it (the news) is out so early? I would think this would hurt Z06 sales unless pricing will be out shortly and it be higher than originally thought.

I am thinking along the lines of the car enthusiast who has had nice exotics and wants to see what the 'hype' is about. Who won't mind forking over 85k to a dealer to be the next owner of a Z since it is the latest rave. Now this guy sees that there will be a 'supervette' and will hold on to his $$ until it is released.
Of course, I am not a professional marketer, Gm should know what they are doing.......

Folks this post is not a Solicitation for business it is just passing on some info. We do have a list already on this car and have not ask for any of the deposits we were ask by the customers to take their deposits. The list has about 15 names on it and the deposit is $5000.00 and the price in relation to MSRP can not be promised. We know that theses cars will be VERY hard to come by.

They should think of a clever moniker for it.

Like "Sting-shark." Or "Manta-Ray." Or some variant of those two that sounds like some sort of shark.

The 2008 Corvette Anenome.

But by then, who can afford $12 per gallon of 93 octane to fill it up?

sounds like about 125k to me....add limited numbers...add markup and you will probally push the 200 envelope...in price and mph..how many current vette owners can go 100k or more for a new vette.....if i could [which i can't] i wouldn't....

I totally agree with this statement.

In fact, I'm gonna bet against it even happening at all.

Default Rick, do you have reliable information?

Rick, do you have reliable information?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The reason I ask, is I saw

Dave Hill and Karen Raferty this entire last weekend. Dave said their was not going to be a, "Blue Devil," at dinner last Friday night.

Than being said

1) I would never ask, "Dave," about GM proprietory secrets or would ever personally broch the subject unless he brought it up and then it would stay a secret.

2) There is a 6.4 liter SC engine for 2008 to my understanding.

added comment

Rick,
I honestly believe that you saying what you have heard from your source. I think that you are most likely right. I also think the prevailing wisdom would be to verify the information first though and also respect the right of GM to release their corporate information through the appropriate channels in their time frame and manner of their choosing.

Will it be shown in LA (a week later) like they did with the Z06?

No offense, but I think it is high time we stop quoting "What Dave Said" as some sort of irrevocable decree from on high. He is not God, and things change. There are now several instances where things turned out differently than what he said or implied initially, which is only normal. Also, he is the program director, which means that at least half of his job is sales & marketing...keeping demand hot for these cars. Even if he knows about improvements in advance or of chanfges that have the potential to happen, which we should not assume he does, he may hold off on disclosure in the interest of preserving present sales. He is under no obligation to spill his guts on all things at all times.

There are 2 changes to the Z06 coming in MY08 with 95% certainty, that I know for a fact "Dave Said" would not happen...

And Ford GT and all the overpriced imports shows there IS a market for a Blue Devil. It would be utterly stupid of GM not to tap it.

I'm guessing a supercharger on the 427 similar to what Ford used on their GT.

650HP would be easy with this combo and much easier to package than a TT setup.

Just my .02

Pat
