Default TPMS Programming Question

Hey guys -

I have one of the Bartech tools needed to reprogram the TPMS. How do I get the car to go into reprogramming mode? Is there a key combo I need to hit?

Thanks.

jas

To put the car in "learn" mode, push the bottom of the ignition/start switch. You should see a yellow light below "ACC" on the switch.

Then simultaneously push the "lock" and "unlock" buttons on the Fob and hold them until you hear a honk of the horn indicating you're in the "learn" mode.

Then go out and "excite" the sensors with your tool. At each wheel, when the sensor has been excited and transmits its ID# to the TPMS, you'll hear a honk of the horn.

Make sure you do it in the proper sequence or the DIC pressures won't relate to the correct tire. Do the Left Front first, then Right Front, then Right Rear, and lastly the Left Rear.

At each wheel you'll hear a beep of the horn, except at the last one, the Left Rear you will get a double beep of the horn indicating the process is complete. Then turn off your ignition. You can start up the car to see if the DIC is displaying pressures properly.

However, sometimes a wheel may be finicky and not cooperate and sync up immediately. This has happened to me more than once. If this occurs, simply proceed with the remaining wheels and come back to the one that was stubborn.

You will see the Bartec Tool start to flash faster and faster which usually results in a sync.

As beezeye said, that double horn beep is the sweet sound informing you did it correctly.

Thanks much Bob. I kept scouring the FAQ for this and couldn't find it. I think it's FAQ-worthy material.

Yep - that'll work!!

Butt........the TPMS computer in the car associates the sensor ID# of the first sensor registered with the LF wheel, the second one registered with the RF wheel, the third one with the RR, and the last one with the LR.

So, if you don't get them to register in the the proper order, your pressure readings in the DIC will not be for the correct wheels. If you do the LF, then try the RF and it doesn't work and you bypass it and go to the RR, then LR, and then come back to the RF, your DIC readout for RF pressure will actually be for the RR tire, the DIC RR pressure will be what is really in the LR tire, and the LR DIC pressure will be for the last wheel registered - the RF.

Not a big deal, unless you want the DIC to be showing the correct tire pressures for the tires that are actually on that corner of the car.
