[ZR1] Blue Devil Photo's are FAKES ..
#21
I wonder what kind of $$$$$ these guys were paid for their spy photo's? And, now that it's been proven fake, will they have to, or be forced to, return the funds? Personally, I think it was a great scam!

Perhaps I am both cynical and a dinosaur, but I believe this was a ham-handed and hypocritical attempt to garner some publicity by a magazine in an era when the adage that "any publicity is good publicity' is being tested to extreme. Unfortunately the idea does appear to HOLD! As previously mentioned, just look at the vapid trio of Britney, Paris, Lindsey. These are scatterbrained drugged out idiots who supposedly hate each other and have no talent other than keeping in the public eye, i.e. throwing out six shots a day of them with no underwear on. And we (collectively) do just what the machine that invented them wants us to do -- buy the product.
Well, when the accuracy of an automotive publication is even less reliable than it is now (influence of manufacturers already taints them all), how do you think it will go when they increase sales with more stunts like this, designed to deceive and "punk" their readers over the very thing (useful timely information!) they claim to be delivering?
Sorry, I guess I never was much on practical jokes of any sort, much less by those in positions of supposed respect. It's demeaning to everyone.

That mag's info will always be suspect now.

If that was a joke,... I ain't laughin. Purposefully presenting misleading information the public like that is unethical. Just another example of the various scum that walks the earth. I wonder if that is grounds for a lawsuit...

Since they revealed what they did themselves .... it was all in good fun ... and really boost the hype on the Devil car.
Wonder how many of the other auto mags/ writers fell for it ?
Notice GM never denied it ... bet they loved it for the free advertizement.

Maybe I am missing something here; did they actually promote the car themselves as a spy pic? Did they just drive that car around a wait for someone to snap a few pictures?

Funny how they fooled the Xperts ... Priddy, etc.
Since they quickly exposed their prank with a followup story .... they get credit for some measure of 'genius'.
Right now .... I'd put them at the top of the list ... for entertainment value !
