Realistic Gas Consumption of the Z06???
Hello all-- I'm considering getting an 08 Z as a daily driver. I wanted to get some input regarding the realistic gas consumption of the Z-- the sticker says 16-26 mpg (city/highway). Does it do closer to 16-18 mpg???
Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!

all depends on how hard you step on the pedal....i get 22 in my daily commute...i shift to 6th at about 40 or so and look ahead for traffic changes....drive smooth and easy and the z is not bad..
on the other side of the coin..i get 8 to 10 when gettin on it!!

Depends on how you drive...
If you drive like my grandmother then you can expect decent hwy miles/gallon, closer to 26. But, if you drive the car the way it's supposed to be driven, it's definately the bottom end of that range. IMO, if you're concerned about the cost of gas to fuel your car, you may want to look into a v6 turbo...

I just went thru my first tank and went 198 miles on 15.9 gallons which boils down to almost 12.5mpg. I hope I can assume it will improve as the engine losens up. The car has 205 miles now. I can't expect it will get much better as I was getting 13-14 mpg on my z51 i am selling. I like to play some!!!

I have had my 06 Z06 since September. I use it as my daily driver for making sales calls. I have 14K miles on it now and I get 22+ MPG in all around type of non-race-boy driving. I drive 80 mph on the freeway but you can watch the MPG go down as the speed increases. I took two long highway trips and if I keep it below 85 mph, it will get 25+ MPG. Not bad for 505hp, right? The C6 is an amazingly fuel efficient race car designed for the street. If you want to buy a gas hog, take a look at a Shelby Mustang, either a GT500 or the soon to be the "$$ Over The MSRP King", Shelby GT500KR. The Shelby GT500 has a $1300 Gas Guzzler Tax added to the MSRP and even the Z06 does not. The weight and aerodynamics are a big factor in favor of the C6 Z06...IMHO.

My 2006 gets:
16mpg city with moderately spirited driving.
22mpg city/hwy with lots of onramp launches
26-30mpg hwy if I really try... depending on terrain.
At VIR I got 7mpg pushing as hard as my novice "skills" could manage...
Of course... YMMV

With 1200 miles total, I'm getting 19 to 20 MPG, mix of city/highway driving. It does use more gas than my heads/cam C5, it was getting 21 to 22, same mix and style of driving.

I have had my Z since July last year and have 6,300 miles on her now. I have not reset the aveage fuel consumption and I am getting 20.6 mpg. I drive mainly city with a few highway trips and I am an agressive driver. Not bad for 505 hp car.

The average fuel mileage over 5,000 miles has been 19.5/gallon.

Depends on how you drive. If you keep the rpms down and short shift you will get very good mileage 20-24 mpg or more . Given the power of the LS7 you don't need to spin the engine very fast to go with traffic flow. Keep engine around 1000 -1500 rpm and you will get the numbers above. If you don't do not expect good mileage. Put the dis on instant fuel economy and learn how to use the 6 speed to your advantage
