I think the hood is terrible. It is one thing for a ferrari to have a clear engine cover because you can see the full gorgeous engine. With that hood, all you see is the top of a blower. Lame.

No, I think Patrick just has more sense then to allow these on his forum. A good relationship with GM and other sources are too important to throw away on a scoop of one version of a Corvette. JMHO
Disregard this post they are now up on Digital Corvettes as well with the words DC all over them. What do I know, right.

Inspect the top picture again, the clear area of the hood has a light reflection on it, besides I don't think they would design an open area like that due to aerodynamic considerations as well as weather (rain) or just miscellaneous items finding there way into the engine bay.

God I hope those aren't the final side vents.
They look crappy. They look like a mold between the C5 and the C6.
Looks dated, and non exotic nor mean like the Z06 does.
Sure it will smoke anyone, but the look is just bland.
Not what I would expect out of a supercar.
Look at the Ford GT, Ferrari's, Lambo's, ect. The body lines really say something.
This says, "we don't have anymore good body design engineers so were are superimposing the C5 onto the C6."
The Rims are the same. Bland, unoriginal and weak.
For 100plus and that look. Nah!
I'll get a Z06 right before they start taking orders on the SS.

If you notice all of the other pictures are hinting around the idea of a black top (non-painted) and some people have said it might be of carbon fiber to save weight.

I'm leaning towards jschindler's observation. If you look past the seat backs, it looks like a convertible top. Or maybe solid shaped like a convertible??
Time will tell, but fun speculating even if this proves to be a nice custom.

Look, folks -- this is really close to the real deal. It's a "last hurrah" for the C6 -- and also ups the ante on the new Viper.
Complain as you will, but I for one, commend GM and their engineers for turning around a milestone vehicle in time to be relevant before regulations and economic realities squelch a renaissance period in American car manufacturers' new "golden era" of incredible power combined with economy, electronic wizardry, and style.
If you can't appreciate the statement being made by these guys (the manufacturers/engineers/laborers) -- you don't deserve the price of admission.
This is an amazing push forward by GM, who - for years - have been way too conservative.
And, if you read between the lines, it's a very promising glimpse into what the future ~could~ hold.
I say, quitcher bitchin' ( ) and stand back and appreciate what's being developed for us enthusiasts to enjoy!!!!
OK, Im done.
Edit: Removed several statements for context.

Strickly from a weight saving viewpoint I don't see even thinking about a clear section around the supercharger.
Care will be needed to make sure cracks don't propogate from vibration so I expect the frame the clear section mounts to be reinforced and eat up any local weight savings.
I do think from a marketing and origionality viewpoint it is very clever. I remember the first time I saw the engine behind the seats of a Ferrari and thought that was very cool.
I hope the view through the glass is impressive.
