So today My project begins part 1
Today, I finally placed the order for my fully built 427 motor with Wheel 2 Wheel Powertrain in Michigan. Kurt Urban, from W2W, has answered all my questions and has made me completely comfortable with my purchase and with chosing the shop. I was quoted by a few shops, but W2W just stood out above the rest. Thank you to those who took time to discuss my motor with me.
I will post pictures as soon as I get them. I'll be going to Michigan to see it get dynoed, so I'll have videos and everything. I'm open to questions and comments.

Congratulations Mark. Your car is going to be a beast. I am lookng forward to lining up with you when you get her back.
805 and MCM, Mark is going with a twin turbo set-up and his goal is 850ish RWHP.

2. I'm looking for either a dual or triple plate clutch and the Fuel system that APS is suggesting for their Z06 TT Kit.
3. As soon as they get parts and putting it together I will have pictures.
The block is a LS7 with Darton sleeves. The Heads are going to be ETP Peformance heads with a Jesel Rocker system with Mohawk option. As of right now the Pistons will be JE with a 8.5.1 compression, Oliver Billet Rods, and a Callies Crank.

I think they have the most impressive record for putting out reliable, powerful LSx variant motors. You could have used their Air Attack as a base, and had the turbo added to it.
As long as you are happy with it when they finish, that is the main point. If they (W2W) stand behind their work, and they deliver what you asked then more power to you.
Should be interesting to see the results

Are you doing the istall your self, or is there a shop in LA doing it for you?
I sure would like to come by and see the process

Right now Kurt has mentioned 6-8 weeks for the motor to be finished. LAPD will then install it and its a waiting game on APS to see if they are going to have the kit sent here by their expected date.
I heard! You will love it. Sounds like a monster!!!!

I don't understand why you wouldn't have Katech build the motor for you...

I had the option to go with Katech and I spoke to Jason many times about doing a Air Attack. I spend just as much on this motor as that Air Attack motor that wasn't a issue. The BIG difference between both shops was in the Engine Dynoing and ofcourse their speciallity. After break in W2W has offered a service Katech could not. W2W has developed a turbo kit for their engine dynoing. I felt they can do more adjusting to the motor while boost is running through the motor.I asked Jason if they provided that service and Katech does not. That was the biggest factor.
From what Kirk has said this motor should be good up to 1250 HP.

LAPD will be doing the TT install, motor install, and tuning. Once the car is ready to go on the dyno you are more than happy to stop by and take a look.

Good luck on the project. We'll be drooling over it for months to come...

You should have asked Spock - he's the science officer! Or Scotty the chief engineer!
All kidding aside, you should be good for Warp 9

You did tell me that you did dyno testing but not with a turbo on the motor unless I had my APS kit which obviously isn't possible. I asked if you guys had some type of adapter to mount one on there and do testing with that and you said "no". That was a big part of why I choose W2W. Had this been a NA set up I would have done something like Tommy's car.

Mark,
I can’t figure out what you mean by “W2W has developed a turbo kit for engine dynoing.” Why would they dyno your engine with a turbo kit? Unless the turbo kit was identical to the APS TT kit you plan to install, with the same boost etc., what purpose would it serve?
And if their theory is that it will help with setting up the motor - How so? It's hard for me to see how because they have already decided which camshaft, which heads, pistons, compression ratio, etc. I am not an engineer, however I do have some mechanical experience, I do not see how "turbo-kitted-dyno-testing" is advantageous - it sounds like marketing to me.
Yes, it would place additional stress and wear factors on your new motor, so maybe it's a stress test? They couldn't be programming the ECU because they won't have your ECU - right? This might be valuable to a limited extent, but is it necessary? Aren't they using such high quality build components that this type of dyno stress testing is superfluous? Or are they double checking their parts selection with the idea that they might change parts and then re-test? Help me please, I just don't understand.
And Jason, if you have any input on this "turbo-kitted-dyno-test" theory, it would be very instructive for all of us. And any other engineers on the forum.
And please don't "misconscrew" [sic] my post, I am not bad-mouthing anything, any theory or anyone, just trying to learn by playing "devil's advocate"
