I have a 2006 Z06 with 15,000 miles on it........was driving down the road and it just quite on me.....called the dealer.........they took it in....the engine was gone....(they are putting a new engine in as I type)should have it back friday.....it was overheating and I took it in to 3 dearships and they all added coolent and I told them all.......no leaks, so where was the coolent going?.....they all added coolent and sent me on my way......the engine went cause it was leaking coolent into the engine oil.....go figure........but, Corvette sent a new engine immeadiately....I give them credit for not giving me any run around...anyone else ever have or heard of this problem?

I suspect you've been driving your Z06 with a blown Head(s) Gasket. The coolant was mixing with your oil etc.
If you can ask your dealership what was the exact cause of this it would appreciated by the membership. I'm sure that there are not too many of our cars that are in the 15,000 mile range.
Best of luck with your new motor.

Probably a rare occurance. There are tons of Z's on the road with much higher mileage that haven't had a problem. But stuff happens. Look at some of the best extreme high dollar Nascar Teams, even they blow an engine once in a while.
One thing to really watch is make sure they refill the transmission when done. Tell them now, and speak to the technician before the car is road tested with the new engine. Tell the tech directly - refill the trans before driving, please make a note on my RO.
What happens way too often is - to take the engine out, a trans line has to be disconnected. Which leaks out some fluid. Engine back in, forgets about the trans fluid loss, and on the first test drive the trans siezes up.

Good luck and enjoy the new engine.
Pretty bad if you have to remind your doctor to don't forget to stitch me up after you operate on me, Oh and could you make a note on my chart that I have requested it.

Did you have a warning from the DIC? (Check gages? et al.)
Who,when was your engine built?
When coolant enters the engine oil pool it still works~AS LONG AS THE POOL STAYS HOT. Once it cools, it solidifies. The oil pump doesn't pick up solids. Then the engine starves for oil and siezes.
If the engine is being torn down @ the dealership, try to get photos, they could be helpful. (Maybe the tech could take some for you.)

Could you or somebody else clarify this point? My understanding is that coolant may produce some precipitation out of the oil/coolant mix, but that most remains in the liquid state and the oil effectively thins out to the point that engine failure is certain.
