I agree. It was a stretch for me to get into a Z. But, I lost so much on my vert, at this point who cares.

I am going to have 100k miles on mine in no time!

i think the trade cycle has shortened.a neighbor a few doors down just picked up his ordered unit and is keeping is 100k+mile 01.he is waiting to see how my TT install goes.look at vette pricing over the last 10years.IN 97 we were selling @$38k or so.just saw a z06 @$87K on the show room.now @$151k for a zr1.corvette is a very profitable car.not as much as some like the Lincoln navigator.cost ford around 18k to produce in 02.the difference is that vette owners never mile a car up to take full use of the warranty.GM says their is no clutch problem with my 04 z06 w/ 29k.not even a bulletin, and what about the driver side window?the only fix is to stop buying ,not gonna happen

This thread piqued my interest, so I looked at the jeffhardy site and found >1100 new Z06s at dealers and 73 new '07 Z06s.

Now the interesting thing about the new '07s is that every one of them was a 1LZ trim level. That says to me, that even with good prices, the 1LZ is much less desirable in the market. So depending on one's point of view (the most bang-for-the-buck, or get the plush one) the 1LZ's may be a screaming bargain or a glut on the market.

Interesting, isn't it?

It's the economy and cold season. The snakes are slow selling as well.

Go back and look again...these are not 1LZ's, notwithstanding what it says in the table.

If you look at the actual stickers, you will find they are ALL (probably) 2LZ's

As the weather warms up, will the prices increase as well? I plan on buying a Z06 around April or so...but if the prices are going to go from 8k under sticker to 4k under, then I may have to jump in now.

Also, it seems like you can get a leftover 07 or a brand new 08 for almost as little as a used 07. Hmmmm...

Thank you.

lets revisit this topic in the summer of '09, and hopefully the '08s are the last 427s built. I think the bottom dwellers that have been waiting and waiting will have made a mistake by that point. The long term value of the 427 car with the looming cafe regulations is going to be very solid IMO.

I would say two things.

1) GM is flooding the market and dealers are giving deep discounts.

2) It's a bad time of the year.

I would wait a few months. Even business has been real slow here in California. The weather now is not helping either.

I wouldn't worry about the ZR1. Some people think it's going to have an effect. Once people see what dealers are asking, most of those on the wait list will drop like flies for at least another year or so.

For those that already have one, the fact that the dealers are "dumping" these cars that far under MSRP is a real ****-off!!

ZR1 will have ZERO effect on the Z06 senerio.....

Hopefully supply & demand will work itself out once "spring fever" hits us all

Sweet! And if that LS7 goes kaput, just put a built 441 in it using a C5R block.

If I put in any distance there are over 3,500 listings...

Lowest Price $54,981 in GA, USA. It has about 13k miles on it.

In California the lowest price, within 200 miles is around 60k with 24k miles. I have seen this one listed for at least 5 months now, I think originally they were asking 74k and now they are only asking 60k.. Quite a drop if I do say so.

Bad Economy causing this? I think so. I don't know how popular our car is right now, but I think that if 3,500 of them are for sale, most of them used, then this is really going to hurt the resale value of the Z06.

I wonder, will the price ever stabilize? How low do you think the Z06's will go for.

What do you think? They say in a bad economy the toys are the first thing to go.. is that an explanation for what is happening or is the Z06 just not that popular? Considering GM only makes about 5k of these a year and yet other cars that they make 7times more are not listed for sale in such large numbers.

What do you think, how low will it go?

I love these "sky is falling" type posts.

5,000 cars????

First off, there were 6,272 2006 Z06s made.

There were 8,159 2007 Z06s made.

And there will be at least around that number made for the 2008 model year.

You know, I am probably not the only one here who is starting to wonder about some of the threads you have started here. Am I the only one detecting a pattern here?

Every one of them seems to be a post of "concern" about a perceived "issue" with the Z06. This time its the "reasale value" and "how low do you guys think it will go?"

This time, it was about the Nissan GTR and "Nissan Skyline GTR will it beat the Z06?"
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1687539

This time it was an "issue" with the Navigation and how it compared to that in your BMW:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1803716

This time its a "quality" issue with "leaking oil and coolant":
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1869725

This time there was yet more "concern" about the "Nissan GTR vs the Z06."
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1906641

This time "How much oil usage is normal?" and you wondered in post #6 of that thread "I just wondered if others were experiencing any oil burning."
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1806396

You know, if you are this concerned, this early about all of the above "issues" and "shortcomings", and now to top it off, the "reasle value" of your Z06, perhaps it might be time for you to get out of it while the getting is still good.

Please who cares, get in your car and drive it. Why these kinds of communiques? If you're concerned with resale get an Accord and go home.

Besides, isn't the shere pleasure of the drive, the beauty of the car's distintive monster looks, absolute brute V8, naturally aspirated power of this beast enough to make you forget about what you'll get when you sell it...please, enough already.

I wrote mine off to a zero value the first time my butt hit the seat. If there is anything left when I am done with it I will feel I have not used it properly.

While I do not own a vette yet - looks to be 5 months out. I feel the same thing in selling my RX8. The fact that I paid almost 30 for it loaded, and now would be lucky to get 15.

With the economy going down hill, winter, and all that jazz I can understand why prices are falling. I can't say I'm too sad because It will make it much easier to get into a vette sooner.
