This would probably get more response in the C6/Z06 forums...

Well first off if you haven't already done so you should ask this question again on the C6 side of the forum,

the Corvette Black Book, $20 at Barnes and Noble ,pretty much has them the same, a few interior seat cloth type changes but I am thinking overall they are the same car with the Z06 body and LS7 motor.

the base price went up by about a grand.

the 07's have a bigger glovebox and are available in atomic orange.
After the 06 year Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic was discontinued and Atomic Orange took its place.
and thats pretty much it.

no drive train differences, same body, same LS-7. but there is a thread that has a conspiracy that says that 06 engines are stronger than 07's, and 08's. I dont believe that the engines are any stronger because there are some 07's and 08's putting down some pretty stout numbers.

Good luck with your purchase.

Some 2007s have 2006 rear shocks other 2007s have 2008 rear shocks that's the only difference that would be make the cars handle differently.

let's not forgot the ever popular hatch handle that was mysteriously discontinued in '07.

The roof thing and starting in 07 you get the powertrain warranty. For a car like this a huge freebie!

Freebie?? Somehow I think whoever bought an 07 paid for it in the 3K price hike over 06.

I also thought I heard there was a TM change in 07.

Default True...True

And those getting 08's are paying for it with the $1K price hike over the 07's

Those getting 08's may be getting cars cheaper then those in 06 & 07

True, my point was simply that the hike was a bigger % than normal. As you showed with the smaller hikes from 07 to 08.

And I don't think the majority of the public are driving out of the showrooms with Z06's at invoice.

Default Leave the 08+ out of this.

Don't lump the 08 in with the 06 and 07 on just cosmetic differences. The 08 has a new more precise steering rack for better steering feel, different rear shocks for a change in handling stability (people complained the 06,07 cars felt 'twitchy'), and most importantly the 08 has a completely different transmission that is smoother and stronger than the previous years, the TR-6060. Throw in the availablility of the 3LZ interior if you have money to burn, 8k, for a seriously nicer environment to sit in and you really shouldn't lump the 08 in with the first two years production.

That said if you have no intention of ever driving the car hard then the stronger tranny, better at limit handling and more precise steering are going to go unnoticed and unneeded so they would all seem the same.

Of course the next monkey wrench is that to defuse the cost of some of the ZR1 parts they will probably show up on the 09 ZO6, meaning the stronger rear end and the larger capacity dry sump system, etc. There is no reason and a lot of cost in making two sets of parts that do the same basic thing when you can use one set for both cars and spread out the costs. I am sure there will be more things like that. But as far as 06 vs 07, the only differences I have ever heard of are more anecdotal than fact and nothing in the way of large hard parts.

I am amazed at the amount of infomation one can receive here and feel a whole lot better informed in my attempt to own a Z06 thankyou all who took the time to answer my question. I have a 07 loaded roadster with paddle shifter but find my self wishing I had the power of the Z06.

Re the rear shocks:

I believe that there have only been 2 sets of rear shocks for the C6Z.

06' ----> Late production 07' are the same - PN 10318361

Late (May +) 07' build ----> 08' are the same - PN 25819268

I've seen that there is a 'new' rear shock PN for the 08's, but I believe it's the same shock (as the late 07') with a new number - PN 25838021

Some believe there is but one shock for all years, but I think the majority vote supports the 2-shock theory.
