What's your opinion of auction rate securities? (Municipal Bonds)

As auctions fail, some rates are reset to 20%, 15%, 12%, I know this won't last long, but who knows.

Natural gas and oil ETFs are currently doing very well by me. I'll soon be back above water after AAPL sh|t the bed.

As always, NKE is a large part of my portfolio

If the bond issuer can get out they do. If they can't get out, there is obvious increased risk. At best, you could see the risk/reward balance staying decent for 6 weeks. After that, its questionable. I hate market timing, and trying to time the failure of these dutch auctions feels like something I wouldnt be very good at.

I leased mine for 60 months. The monthly payment for the lease was less than financing. Also, I am in the process of selling my business. I didn't want to wait until the sale closed - I had to have it now (I'm like that). Once the business closes, I'll pay the lease off.

Could have waited until October and probably have paid cash, but I deploy to Iraq again that month. So I said screw it and ordered one now, will finance 36 months 4.99% through USAA. Probably will pay it off right around 24 months though and never really miss the money. Figured I should enjoy my time home May-October with the Z. Instead of buying it then putting it in storage for 7 months.

I think you meant to say that you pay interest to borrow your own money, on top of what its not earning and what it does to the taxes later on.

Order goes in on Wednesday last word I got. So I figure it will show up early May sometime. Went through Kerbeck. Very good deal, was hard to pass up.
