[ZR1] ZR1 Hits the Nürburgring track
#301
personally i'm glad they 'think' this way. they sure will be in for a big suprise when they get lined up.
anyone remember the dialog about the wrx sti and the evo's beating up on the c6 when the c6 first came out. we sure don't hear much of that anymore. seems like talk is cheap and reality are two different stories.
i wouldn't hesitate, in the least, to line my lil ole c6 up against the big bad gt-r.
power to weight ratio plays a large role in what wins races.

Zero to 60 in 3.2 sec. is way faster than any stock C5. And I'm pretty familiar with lining up with an unsuspecting car. I lost count of how many cars I have over taken in my Supra. It's best when the guy has his wife with him and I have mine. Priceless. But I would love to have a ZR1.

"No doubt, the Corvette's credentials are impressive: Producing 505 naturally aspirated bhp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque from its 7.0-liter V-8, the svelte Chevy packed the strongest punch of the group, while being the lightest on its feet, tipping the scales at a lean 3350 lb. It kept pace with the others to 60 mph, and then managed to set the fastest trap speed at the quarter-mile mark (123.7 mph), besting the 911 Turbo by 2.5 mph and the GT-R by 7.2. This just goes to show that although the Corvette couldn't get off the line as quickly as its awd competitors, once it got going, nothing here could touch it. "

when all is said and done, which would you rather race in? a car that can get to 120 in 10 seconds or one that takes 12 seconds? seems like the lowly c6 z06 is able to give the gt-r a two second head start and come up even. now if we add the zr1 into the mix we would need to give gt-r a 5+ second head start just to be fair.

Chew on this...
Try this formula against the GT-R vs. Z06 vs. ZR1
0-60 Time=
(Weight in Pounds*.45359237)/(Max BHP*.9)
Weight changes the numbers quite a bit... this is WITH DRIVER
GT-R (3600*.45359237)/(480*.9)=3.8
Z06 C-6 (3579*.45359237)/(505*.9)=3.6
ZR1 Est. (3700*.45359237)/(620*.9)=3.0
The .45359237 converts it into kgs
This formula may be + or - .02 in 0-60 times.
I may be off a little on Gross Vehicle Weight with Driver, feel free to change at your liberty.

Actually the eye-roll wasn't about a Supra being faster or slower (by my guess my Supra was probably better than his anyway ), but the 15 year old comment about the other guy somehow losing credibility with his wife. Again

Corvette's ZR1 was spotted yesterday at the Nürburgring. Reports that the weather has been warm and dry over the previous days has brought out Team Corvette and their supercharged 638 hp Corvette ZR1, this time dressed in red. Eyewitnesses speculate that GM may have been looking for a lap time as he "spotted a helicopter chasing something that sounded very V8 and awfully supercharged..."
Although that may be the case, the photos again show a passenger riding shotgun so its doubtful that an attempt to lap the 'ring in "seven minutes and twenty-something seconds" as Corvette's Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter alluded to last week was happening when these photos were taken.
As for the helicopter? The ZR1 has proven to be a boon for spy photogs and it wouldn't come as a surprise to see arial footage of the new supercharged bad boy making its way around Nürburgring's Nordschleife.

You took the words right out of my mouth , there is a saying, "What does a 300, 500, and 700 hp all have in common?" they all run 12's
