Default Newbie here! Couple simple questions.

Hey everyone. just got out of a cts-v(blower, suspension, exhaust,etc....) Love the new Z i just picked up. pulled the exhaust fuse the first hour hahaha. I'v been reading pages for the last week or so and getting great info. I have a couple basic questions, kinda like a poll.
1. Is an intake worth getting? If so, which is the best? killer bee?
2. Which brand headers are the best out right now and what size? i know this is debateable but i'm hearing LG over kooks and AR.
3. Who has the best prices around for this stuff?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Welcome to the forum!

The fuse method works for about a week or so, then it will get old and you will get the mod bug. Trust me on this one, in my house the Z is referred to as "the other woman." I just recently did back to back dyno pulls with both the West Coast Corvette Hurricane as well as the Halltech Killer Bee. Hurricane is more of an install than the Killer Bee, but back to back dyno pulls on a DynoJet inground here in Florida with a 20 minute cool down between pulls I lost 12rwhp and 14rwtq using the Killer Bee. The air/fuel also started to get very rich which means the Killer Bee did not flow as well as the Hurricane did. FRC_Tom, who is a tuner on the forum, can verify this as he was at the shop when we did the swap. The Hurricane flows massive amounts of air and once its dialed in your all set.

Jeremy Formato did the end tuning on my car, which in the end put down 554.7rwhp. The car is sick fast and will take on even the 1000cc streetbikes.

The car is equipped with:

American Racing 1 7/8" Headers Ceramic Coated
3" X-pipe no cats
ARP Stainless Steel Header Stud Kit
B&B Bullets
Hurricane Carbon Fiber Intake
QM600 Cam
Patriot Gold Dual Valve Springs
Taylor Thundervolt 10.3 Plug wires
Ported Throttle Body
Ported Intake Manifold

1. I'd get a killer bee intake. It's a high quality, proven piece, and the install is a snap.

2. I'd recommend kooks headers. You can get them right from kooks. My buddy and I ordered our headers at the same time and they gave us a pretty nice discount.

3. See if any of the forum vendors have any specials going on as far as pricing.

I'd recommend using the search function, as there has been a ton written up on each of your ideas.

Personally, I have the Killer Bee intake and Kooks headers.

I also pulled the fuse and found I liked the sound from outside the car but hated the drone from inside. I went with the Corsa exhaust because it had the least drone.

If you want to control your exhaust, do this --> DIY Wireless Exhaust Controller

Good luck with the new car. I have a Vararam, Kook coated headers with cats, x-pipe and Corsa's on my z06 and the car runs great.
