Stock Exhaust.....Still The Best????
Keeping in mind that some people do not want the car to scream at all times it is nice to have the ability to open & close the flaps. I have the stock exhaust on my modified Z with the M2W. My modified C5 had Corsa Indy's, which was a great system but was extremely loud and the internal cones were prone to fail on those systems and mine did.
Has the aftermarket come out with a low/no droning system that has a killer sound without being obnoxious? I know that B&B makes a system with the flaps but is the sound that much better than stock to warrant the expense? I have a cammed car with LT's and the stock exhaust is nice but it does tend to drone at certain low RPM's with the flaps open.

I was a young wippersnapper once, and had smitties, cherry bombs, glass packs, and loved it.
Now that I'm older, and thanks to the M2W, I think GM did it right.

With the LG header system and the remote switch to turn the flap ON/OFF you can not ask for better sound.
They are sounding louder as well with more miles on the car.
Open flap for around town and closed on freeway, best of both world.

I just pulled the fuse, and I'm plenty happy. I'm used to much louder cars than this. My C6 only had Corsa Sports, but my C5 had a Borla XR-1 with no mufflers, just resonator, and before that, the supercharged LT1 had a Borla adjustable exhaust that I ran with the large plate. People would run for their homes in a panic when they heard it coming.
I may do a remote, but only for long trips where the tach is at 1700 rpm in 6th for hours on end.

my fuse was take off within minutes of purchase...I need a little more sound and was going to cut the mufflers open like I did on my 06 and seal the perforated pipe inside...I would have already done it but I am having issues with odor in my car...so I will wait a bit.

I'm not sure it's the best but here's what I went through:
1) pull the fuse. But too much drone on 6th gear arout 1500-1700 rpm.
2) I then got a M2W. I was pretty happy with it for a while but also felt that I mostly like the sound when the flap is open so I decided to look for an after market exhaust that sounds good ALL THE TIME.
3) There I found the Corsa and it was exactly what I wanted. Sounded great WOT & cruising around 1500-1800 rpm is good as well.
4) Until I decided to add cam & long tube headers. After adding cam & long tube, it was too loud with the corsa. WOT is still good but drone between 1500-1800 on 6th gear came back. So now I'm on my way back to stock exhaust with the M2W switch.
My opinion is that without the long tube headers, the corsa exhaust was perfect for me. But after adding the headers, it sounded exactly like the stock exhaust. Great until you cruise on 6th gear where the drone around 1500-1800 rpm on 6th gear becomes annoying. My 02.

Quiet and Loud!
Perfect combo....quiet when on phone or want some peace. Or loud when some gear heads are nearby. I love it....may add a set of LT's to give it a little grunt on open mode. May not though as it seems a waste.
