Not with my own eyes, but Harlan mentioned it to me the other day so I'll take his word for it. He didn't specify which trim level included it or all. Maybe its just 2LZ & 3LZ, I don't know.

+1 on the retro fit. It's would be great to have this on my Z when I have my hands full of items I would rather not set on the ground to close the lid.

Yes. When I saw my car being built during my Buyer's Tour one of the things I got to see was the final adjustment of the hatch panel fit. The worker did several open/close cycles and he was checking the alignment after the power pull-down did its thing.

Please allow me to weigh in.
The pull down version of the latch assembly (15220345) is bigger than the one used on the Z06. Here are scans from printouts my parts counter buddies made for me:Both brackets appear to have threaded studs on them that line up with holes in the trunk tub. I bet the trunk tub is the same part between the coupe and Z06 so it probably has mounting holes for both style brackets. (I bet it's a pain to get to the nuts.)
The interior trim piece that hides the latch would probably need to be swapped as the Z06 version doesn't bulge out enough to accommodate the coupe's larger lid pull down actuator assembly.
The latch connectors are different. The lid pull down actuator assembly uses a 6 pin connector (Delphi 12110626). The Z06 uses a 5 pin connector (Delphi 15326822 which mates with 15326827). (Note: These delphi.com links are a bit squirrelly, if they don't work, click on "home" and then copy the part number into the part number box and submit...)
The latch wiring is different. The Z06 and convertible have a relay in the I/P relay block (passenger kick) to drive the hatch release solenoid. The coupe must have a relay integrated into the lid pull down actuator assembly. The trunk release circuit from the BCM provides ground when activated so you'd need to remove a relay and insert a jumper to pass the signal to the trunk. That would have it end up on the same color wire as the coupe. However, you'd also need to run a new wire to bring +12V from the trunk release fuse circuit to the trunk. You could cannibalize a relay to make a nice pluggable connector to jumper the pins together and extract the +12V circuit.
There is an external rear compartment lid key switch on the Z06; somehow it's integrated in the coupe's lid pull down actuator assembly.
I believe all but one of the required circuts end up in the trunk. Running the missing one wouldn't be fun.
They way I would handle the wiring would be to make an adapter harness. This avoids hacking up the factory wiring and allows things to be put back to stock if desired. The connectors and pins are all available from sources such as mouser.com.
The Z06 should have a 15326822 5 pin connector. So start with its mating connector: 15326827. The coupe has a 12110626 connector so that's what you'd want for the other end of the adapter. It mates with the lid pull down actuator assembly. You'd also need the 2 pin rear compartment lid key switch connector (not sure where to get one of these, you'd probably have to go to the dealer).
Not a small (or cheap) job. But doable.

Wow, what a deal breaker! I'd make sure you get this one in writting before signing any papers. I surely couldn't imagine my 505 HP Corvette super-car without one. I'd definetly hold off buying ANY Z06 until they have the power pull down hatch.

Well, I'd like to have it, I drive the **** out of my Z and take it places that would make some owners cry.
Try closing the deck lid with two camera's in your hands with very large lenses on them, without taking a chunk out to the rear lid. Yes, I can put a camera on the ground and close the lid, but I'd rather not set a 5k camera in the dirt. In addition, some people may have disabilities that would make the car much easier for running to the store and errands if the hatch would pull down. This is the only item my coupe had that my Z doesn't have that I miss. With the coupe I could push the lid down far enough with my elbow to engage the pull down.
Given some of the crap that people install on their cars that is downright ugly getting so much praise or a , I'm surprised that the few times this topic has come up there are so many naysayers.

I'm going to upgrade to an '09 but certainly not influenced by this feature!
It doesn't take long to learn to leave either a window or door open prior to letting the hatch drop.
I have also added the Window Valet from Southern Car Parts that lets you open/close the windows using the standard remote.
(Sadly the "vent" feature on the Valet does not crack open the window far enough to allow the hatch to slam shut. It would be even better if it did.)

I have to agree. On my 05 C6, it still was a pia to close the hatch with the power option. The car is so damn air tight. I use to drop the hatch and gently push to get the motor to engage. It's cheaper and less of a hassel to either leave a door cracked open or hit the Window valet and drop the hatch. If you don't have a window valet, spend the $100 and save the fortune of installing the power hatch motor.

my roof lifted when closing hatch (w/ doors closed) on a 95+ degree day...currently getting replaced - another solution to the required slam would be having windows index when hatch open.
can any of the techies here figure out how to do this, even if GM can't.
