Will 3" Cutouts fit under a Z06?
hey guys, im wanting to put electric cutouts on my Z06. I have one already from DMH that was off my camaro and is a 3". I wanted to just get another one and put them in. Does anyone know if they will fit or do i have to go down to a 2.5" one? thanks

I am considering this mod.....

I'd like to do it too, even 2.5" would be ok. But every one I've seen has stuff hangin' low.
Has anyone seen a C6Z cutout setup that doesn't reduce ground clearance much?

Yes search on here for QTP Cutouts. Someone has done them right before the exhaust goes over the axles where the Y is theres lots of pictures and specs. Just beware it is VERY loud inside the car as well as outside. That is why i opted out not to do it and just save my money for a good exhaust or do the muffler mod for now to satisfy me. Good luck !

They do. I've got 3" exhaust on my C6. If you get them put turndowons on them, the you tube above has the exhaust blowing on the spring...there has been several reports of springs melting during track use with the cutouts blowing on them.
Very happy with my QTP's, I've had them for almost 2 years now.

I got them from http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/
They are one of my favorite mods. No check engine light from using them.
Here's a sound clip. They are quite loud when open, much louder than the factory bypass mufflers when open, it could be because the sound is directed toward the ground. It really rumbles in person.
I got 6 rwhp from the cutouts across the board. You Z06 guys with a much larger engine should get more I'd think, though perhaps not as you've got the factory muffler bypass.

A pair is pretty spending at about $400 bucks plus installation making this perhaps a $500-600 project.
I'm guessing that any good muffler shop can install these? At least the welding part.
What about the switch/cable in the car? Is this an easy install once its up on a lift?
And lastly, since these are also available as a single purchase... the thread starter said he already had one off of his Camaro...
Other than saving $$$, would it be worth it to just have "one" installed?

Compared to an aftermarket catback these are a bargain and provide a power gain. I had a tough time finding a muffler shop to do it. Chain stores won't touch this custom work. Old school muffler guys like this kind of work.
The switch was very easy. I used an existing screw under the dash, ran the wire under the rocker trim. Drilled a small hole in the fender under the carpet, down and out the inner fender and to the cutouts. Power was tapped from the seat heater fuse in the passenger footwell.
I did an install thread if people are interested in the C6 Tech section. I can't put a link in as I'm posting this from my iPhone and there's no cut and paste!

I also get a kick of opening them up to the kids who "blow their nose" next to me (that's what exercising their turbo BOV's sounds like to me). I'm a little old for such tom foolery but nothing beats the sound of a G5x3 through cutouts. The ricer crowd just gives up when I open the cutouts.
