Its not as easy for GM as you may think. They need to get the car re-certified with the EPA. I don't know how they would get another 45hp, let alone 55hp and still pass emissions.

GM is pouring money into cars that increase their CAFE average, and trying to cut funding from any project that does not. Tom Wallace said that the LS7 was one of the most on the limit engines that GM ever produced. I don't think they will be pushing it any further.
Maybe I am mistaken in my calculations, but 480 rwhp. I thought the crank calculation equated to about a 15% lower rwhp rating. You would know better than I.

Did you baseline the car on the same dyno same day?

Jim,

DI is supposed to be approximately +10% HP (from other articles I have read) which would give the Z06 roughly 550-555. Looks like GM is supposed to be putting DI in an optional V6 Equinox engine and a Buick this coming year.

I think the DI option is a very realistic and relatively inexpensive change they could implement next year or for 2011 on all of the Corvettes to increase fuel mileage and HP. The only real worry will be if they want to use DI on smaller sized engines for even great fuel efficiency and maintain similar HP numbers.

I think we'll all be fortunate enough if GM is even still manufacturing Corvettes in 2010. The amount of 09's piling up on dealer lots is frightening. Also take a look at the used market. You can find 2005 C6's in the high $20's to low $30k range. Not good news, alot of owners loans will be upside down which means no trades which means fewer new sales. Death Spiral at it's worse.

Come now people. Let's hope the Vette doesn't see a decline in HP due to the freak'n gas carnage. I don't think it will only because it's a specialty auto, that not all people can afford to buy. Those who can buy will want the HP wow affect regardless of petro prices.

i would be very happy with the same horsepower along with a lighter chassis! 505hp in a 2500 lb Vette! It would eat everything alive! Hotdamn!
