I live in an apartment and park in a parking garage therefore having no where to wash my Z by hand so I'm forced to take it to a car wash. The issue with the automatic ones is the rear wheels dont always fit down the track. I found a place 10 miles away where the guys wash it by hand - you just pull in a garage and away they go. Only $10 too... gotta love NJ! Being black though it is showing swirl marks... I'll be taking it somewhere for a professional clay bar / wax / polish this spring.

Drew,
A place by me, Gus & Bucky's, will handwash your car. They do not take it through the autowash; rather, they have a spot on the side of the building where they will handwash then dry. It's great for when you don't have time to wash the Z yourself. They wash / detail some really really high end cars but don't have the high end attitude you might expect.

Their rollers get grit on them, the attendants drop their dry off rags on the ground and put them right back on your car, their recycled water is polluted with hydraulic oil from the last line that broke and squirted everywhere, they drag their vacuum hoses across your door, and quite basically, they don't give a Sh&^% about your car.
Other than that, I highly recommend a car wash

it's only winter when i have this issue since the outdoor water has to be turned off. i usually do it myself but when i can't i need somewhere to go. there are a ton of places in union, jersey city, bayonne that i know but i don't want to drive that far just for a wash. there is a new place in dover i was told about, i will check it out one of these days.

Don't do it! Step away from the car, put the fob in in a safe place that is hard to get to, take several deep breaths, pop a cold one and read some of the other threads in C6 and General - Car Care Products. Don't even think about it unless you know a hand wash outfit that has a reputation and other Corvette owners' testimonials, there is a better than even chance you will regret it. Oh, the horror stories!!

No Corvette should EVER be taken to an automated Car Wash !!!!!
Period.. No offense intended, but why would you even think of taking such an expensive and wonderful machine through an Automated paint thrashing machine.. Its like Going to the local free clinic for heart surgery..
You Just dont want to do it...

Touchless is the way to go if your not able to do your own regular Hand Washes, but keep in mind your are still leaving plenty of dirt still on the paint.
Keep a half dozen or so MicroFiber rags in the trunk as well. Does a great job at getting the last of the water up off the car.
Step 1. Drive in the touchless wash
Step 2. Pull out, point the mirrors down, facing the ground to allow drip drying.
Step 3. Pop the trunk, grab the 3 rags and lower the hatch.
Step 4. Start on the top and work your way down, roof, glass, then all flat surfaces, then the sides. Blow the water out of the tail lights and rear side reflectors with a good blow from your lungs. Don't forget the front side reflectors.
Step 5. Do the wheels then tires with the dirtiest rag. Making sure to blow the air out of the all knooks and crannies.
Step 6. Do the Exhaust pipes with the dirty rag.
Time outside the car, 5 minutes tops.
