[Z06] Not Fair!

Not Fair!
I have an 07 Z06 and go to alot of car shows and cruises. Not once have I received a trophy. It seems that these shows favor the older cars and I suppose that's what these cruises are about. However, it's not really fair to judge the new and older cars together......why can't these shows have seperate class???

Are you you're getting in every nook and crany when you detail? Just kidding I'm sure you are. If these are the regular month end shows you typically go to, as there is one out by us that is the 3rd week of each month and is huge...Vettes of all years do get trophies.
You might "ask" those clip board toating people what they look for.
Represent us right.

Well......most of the shows I go to are all kinds of cars. I don't go to too many Vett shows and don't go to far during the week as the afternoon rush hour traffic is more than I want. On week ends I usually hang on the Berlin Turnpike.....Hooters, Burger King and I check the Bargin news for Vett shows, but don't see any. If any of you guys know of such Vett shows on a monthly basis, let me know, date, time, location...thanks

Go to Vette only shows or shows that have classes that follow the 6 Vette generations. You will then have a chance. Be aware that if a local Vette club is involved with hosting the show it can become a popularity contest and you'll lose.

Don't flame me for my opinion but, I think a car that is bought as is, off the show room like our Z really shouldn't get any trophy if it is at a car show where you have frame off restorations and pro street muscle/hot rods in there, where huge amount of time and resources have been invested to make them the way they are. Money is one thing, but when you got hundreds if not thousands of hours into a resto or a custom hot rod, that is where -to me at least- winning a trophy says something.
Anybody with 80k can buy a a Z, or a restored car, not everybody can restore one or come up with the customization ideas to make it unique.
At the end, I don't care about trophies to begin with...but I know quite a bit of judges that think along those lines ...and if you are just out there for recognition, I don't think it's gonna be a hole lota fun!
Have you tried entering late model only car shows? that might land you a trophy if you are super **** retentive about detailing the car and small details...Usually at those, the cars are pretty much as is besides engine modes and a few custom paint jobs. I have to a couple and they always have the "best stock car" trophy for the car that is the most meticulously detailed...

It was easier to win trophies when the '06 Z06 was a "new" car (until about last year). Everybody just wanted to "see" the new Z06. Today, most of the newer cars entered into local Vette shows are all Z's - even a ZR1 (or two) so the competition has gotten more "real" even for the newer cars.
I do agree that car shows, in general, are for the guys (and gals) who spend a lot of time "making" thier cars. IMHO they spend more (time and money) on their toys than I did/do.

Some Vette clubs hold Vette only shows with classes for each generation or combination of generations. In the C5 and C6 classes some like stock well maintained cars that have been driven and kept nice. Some like highly modded cars. Something for everyone to vote for. Some shows are judged shows based on condition and amount of shine detail. In any event, at these shows you are not competing against street rods and classics which would and should win if they are judged against a new Vette.

One of my customers Captej won some shows. He got the Drilled Brembos from us and some Katech items. It's a siiiiiiiick car. Maybe PM him for some suggestions.
It has to be possible. Or ask the judges even better.

I think the point a lot of people miss is that some of the 'old' 'custom' 'hotrods' are also store bought (and may be newer than your 07 or 08) with the owner contributing zero toward getting the car the way it looks. So in the end, what's the difference?
My own opinion is that if you go to a car show, enjoy the show and if you get a trophy, its gravy.

Anyone can buy a new Z06 and enter it in a car show.

Ok.......I read what you all have to say and agree that the guy who has spent alot of time and money into a restoration really has the right to a trophy than me. However, when I do go to these shows, I do get alot of interest from the public as alot of them has never been up close to a "super car", just like I would be interested in seeing a late model Ferrari, Lotus or other exoctic's. At this time I really don't expect to get a trophy, but it is a chance to show off the car and for others to get a close look at it.....and I get that alot. I have even given people rides and it completly blows them away. Thanks for everybody's input.
