Default Katech Street Attack Z06 independent chassis dyno test

I was at an F-body club dyno day so I just put my car on the rollers for fun. The highest number of the day was 441 so it was fun to go last and put down 535. The first run coolant was a little hot from getting the oil up to temperature, but the Dewitts radiator cooled it down well for the second run.

Ambient temp: 87 degrees
Humidity: 27%
Correction factor: SAE. 1.02
Baro: 29.3
Run 1: 533hp 498tq
Run 2: 535hp 502tq

I'm told on this chassis dyno, Z06s usually baseline at 425-430. When I first built my car, it made 520hp on a Mustang dyno that usually baselines Z06s at 425-430 also. The car has some miles on it now so the drivetrain is probably breaking in more. The Exedy clutch wasn't on it then either so that probably helps.

Sorry for the poor video quality. I didn't take the video.

Almost the exact same numbers mine put down on MTI's Dynojet in Houston last year.

Nice ride Jason.

Just to show the differences in Dyno's my stage 1 Dynoed at 558 about two years ago on a Dynojet!

I can't find the print out (I probably trashed it) or I would post it. Dynojet operators can make it say what they want. All the more proof a engine dyno is best for close HP numbers and repeatability.

Doesn't a Mustang (loaded) Dyno on average read 10-12% lower compared to a Dynojet...? So Jason wouldn't that put your Z06 around 570-580 on a Dynojet...? IMO...and I'm sure most agree, way too many people put too much credence in dyno numbers. Dyno's are great tuning tools but take the numbers with a grain of salt. My cammed Z06 (MTI Houston) made 540rwhp and destroyed many cars making 700+ on a dyno. Agree the numbers can be skewed...

So what are the 'real' engine dyno numbers?

Cheers, Paul.

Some do some don't. My car put down 520 on a Mustang. For comparison, the same day a nearly stock CTS-V with only a cold air intake put down 345rhwp just as I estimated. A totally agree with you. I don't put much stock in chassis dyno numbers. Nevertheless, people love to watch the videos and see what they do. I also like to show that you can take a Katech car and go on almost any other chassis dyno and make more than what we advertise. Our numbers are truly conservative.

Very cool.

Is it correct for me to translate the 610 bhp number to ~585 bhp? if I were using the SAE standard? Or perhaps you meant the 610 to be an SAE engine number?

Yea, 610 is J-607, a standard for the aftermarket in engine dyno testing. J-1349 would be 580.

I hate chassis talk but, for what it's worth, I finished my Katech Street Attack engine in April of this year. It came from Katech with 602hp & 563tq. We tuned it on a Dynapack dyno and it kicked out 543hp & 530tq at the wheels.

Those who know choose Katech.
