Default Error Code P0174

On my way to work this morning the CEL came on. No other fault indicators and the car ran normal so I pressed on.

As soon as I got home this afternoon, I pulled out my trusty OBD11 CAN error code reader and pulled DTC P0174 = System too lean (Bank 2). I cleared the code, started the engine and all is well.

Is this one of those errors that come and go could it be related to an intake air leak or something more sinister??

The only thing I've done to the car since I bought last Friday was to pull the exhaust fuse and apply some ZAINO

Thanks in advance.

I've driven my stock C6Z 19K and 192 passes. I often check for stored codes with a scanner and have found none.

In C5Zs P0171 and P0174 were common when air path connections were not snug and were allowing unmetered air past the MAF sensor.

With that in mind, I'd suggest you check for tightness the connection between the air bridge and throttle body/intake manifold. Might also want to ensure the upper and lower charcoal pads are not coming loose inside the air bridge. Their seams should be perfectly smooth and flat.

Thanks for the excellent info. I'll do as you say.

Cheers

You might also check all your vacuum lines leading in and out of the intake manifold paying particular attention to all the plastic fittings as they tend to crack.

I'll add to my checklist.
