[Z06] ACP World Challenge louvered hood
#21
I have had W/C hood on my 07 for two years and have had no problems.
A better example is my 97 with no water problems. It has 160K miles and isn't garaged.
The middle set of louvers is forward enough that just the front of the engine is affected and the side louvers just let the water disperse on the inner fender wells. The fuse box is not under the louvers.
I am confident that you will not have any issues.
If you would like you could always put a cover over the engine if you still have any concerns.
Please let me know when you are ready, we will be happy to accomodate you.
Thank you for your inquiry.

Hi Jim!
My unscientific testing over the past two years has me believing oil temp is down approximately 10 degrees. The car does feel more planted when going through our 150+ mph kink.
Live in Seattle and my car is also my DD. No water problems in two years.
Mine arrived in a very large wooden pallet and box. Not cheap to build. The free freight is more valuable.

Do you work for Boeing? Are you possibly moving to South Carolina? If so, you will love South Carolina unless a huricane drops by!

We have sold over 100 louvered hoods for both C5's and C6's and I haven't had anyone have any water issues.

Hi Kerry, 2 questions...Can the CF C5 Magna Extractor hood be louvered like the C6 WC Hood, and can the underside be finished as smoothly as the top, so I can have something slick painted inside? Thanks
The CF hood is about 22 pounds lighter.
The FG hood although heavier, will give you a much better paint finish.
The CF hood looks good too but when painted you will see a slight imprint of the carbon fiber weave and honeycomb as you look across the hood.
If you want pure performance the CF is the way to go however the aero function and added cooling is exactly the same for both hoods.

I was thinking of painting the outside and coating the inside so you could see the CF.

My update:
My hood came Friday. Very quick shipping. The $50 "boxing" fee is very fair considering the materials alone would cost $50, not to mention the time put in to packing. There is clearly no mark-up on this $50.
The hood is: AWESOME!
If aggressive stying is not your thing, this hood is not for you. Its beautiful, and should finish off my Z perfectly. The quality of the hood is also very excellent. Top notch!!
Finish: The hood is not (IMO/Nor my shop), really in "paint ready" condition. It will require minor blocking as there are 2/3 very minor imperfections which will easily sand out. However, I have found this to be with any and all aftermarket body parts I have ever bought.
Price: While the bill is not final, it looks like my guesstimate of $1,000 for the entire hood prep, sand, inside/outside paint/clear is right on the money. Might be done by next weekend.
Pics to follow.
