I guess it just depends on how much you can get for the LS7 stuff.

Well, they're some big daddy builds, SBC2 for instance, that spend $7k-8k on heads alone just to get a few more ponies. When we starting talking about N/A builds of this caliber and without the aid of funny smelling gas, high compression, etc. ... 650-680rwhp+ ... then you cannot compare the cost of a set of ported LS7 heads to a head with custom massages/laid runners with a flow tuned/port matched top-end.

I agree though that it still gonna cost a crap load of money.

But, you're shooting for mid-to-high 600rwhp's on pump without having to swap your hood (well, we don't know yet) this stuff gets expensive... look at those LSR canted heads. They ain't cheap!

I would not do this if i didn't think 650 - 680 rwhp was not achievable.

With the right intake it absolutely will. They did a very mild setup on a 427 and it made 640 rwhp. They said this build would be much more aggressive.

If I stay with fast I might be limited to 650 rwhp.

Go with the Harrop and have them port it to hell. Ed @ VaSpeed is putting one on my 470 HKE motor. You are in good hands, they are good guys.

Also, you may want to ask your builder about having the lifter bores bushed for large big block lifters. This is the way to go to eliminate lifter issues. Much larger and stiffer. When I explored going solid roller, this was what I was planning to do. I stayed hydraulic though.

I dont wanna deal with the ITB intake setup. To my knowledge, RobZ and MTI are two of the very few people to make it work and I doubt they drive their cars to dinner and the movies all the time.

If one of them was local to me and the cost was reasonable I would consider it.

I'm about to dyno my car this week. Hoping for 660rw. If the solid roller/intake stuff would put me over 700, I would be willing. Interested to see your results.

They also said they may have an approach to make the FAST work work the higher power and RPM.

And so would I! I think you have high 600rwhp's with the right setup and tune. The intake is probably going to be a limiting factor unless you go with some a bit more radical.

Can you hit me up with your cost? Thanks!

Correcto! However, the fast 102mm has removable runners and.... chop chop!!

The problem I foresee is the packaging and DD a car like this. After talking with a few helpful souls on here and on other forums, an air box is necessary to make it all work and fitting it all under the stock hood might be tricky. Also, a single plane should work wonders but again, the hood will have to go or AT LEAST get a chunk ripped out of it.

Interesting, what lifters were you going with? So you're basically enlarging the lifter bores? What about the pushrods? Same thickness? Will the trays have to be modified?

Right, I really, REALLY want to go N/A with ITB's but the reliability and DD-ability of such a setup will just add more headaches. Unless you are honed like a fat kid at baskin-robbins for a BIG number, I think the fast 102mm can be made to work for a while. One of the features that I like the most about the FAST 102mm is that it has individual runners that can tuned to custom lengths to yield a certain power spread. It's much said than done however, you have the ability to cut those runners down, if you so wish to do so to potentially gain some good peak power at the expense of some mid-range grunt. But, with a solid roller and a cam that needs rpm to breath, you that that somewhat limited option with the FAST 102mm.

I know that LGM hit some SICK high 600rwhp's with a 500ci and a hydraulic so I don't why you cannot hit your goal, unless the setup is being stubborn.

I agree!

"If you make 680whp NA on your ls7 with pump gas, I'll break down and buy a package too for my 500ci motor."

I honestly don't see why he would be able. Again, I think LGM already hit 680rwhp's with a 500ci motor so can you imagine a solid roller pushing a big cam into that motor?! 700rwhp+ N/A on pump my friend!

I seriously think its doable, but it's gonna probably take a bit of testing and patience. The BBC guys are used to these kinds of power numbers with their 730ci motors but we are just, practically, starting to see the true potential out of the LSx stuff with big engine/head/manifold builders sharing some love in our direction.

I don't think an ITB is necessary to reach those numbers but it actually helps make the car much more driveable. The problem is that there are so many things necessary to be done to them allow you to safely drive on the street and protect your investment. ie filtration. Tuning and porting an itb is not even half the battle.
There will be a few new manifold surfacing soon that may work perfectly for your setup. They will have to be tested though. I would sit tight.
When all is said and done, which would take alot of patience and R@D i don't see why a 500ci motor couldn't make 800+whp.(dynojet)

Here's a little more cubes and a high compression solid roller set up for you guys to talk about.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...440-build.html

Were estimating 675 rwhp(maybe more) once it get's broken in.

It was a nightmare man.

First startup of the engine it had low oil pressure. Company that produced the lifters said we needed oil restrictors...After many failed attempts to raise the oil pressure with restrictors engine was removed and completely disassembled to install a brand new set of different solid lifters...which completely fixed the oil pressure problem and we didn't even need any oil restrictors then. Warhawk block had dropped sleeves upon disassembly...had to go back to the machine shop, etc.

I think that motor in my car could have made a TON of power if it was NA and had high compression ratio. I had a Beck sheet metal intake with a 110mm TB on it and 2" headers. The guy at comp cams said it was the biggest cam he had ever ground for a LS engine that was not intended to be a purpose built race car. Lift was over .750.

That motor was made to move some serious air. I should have just made that motor NA and made it a 14:1 8000 RPM race gas motor.

Your better off with a zr1 and some minor mods. Less headaches.

I'll try and shoot a small video of my car's idle and driving for anyone who cares. A big cam can be streetable esp. with bigger cubes. My car is 388ci.

This coming from a guy with ITB's, solid roller, short stroke, high compression and some 9 second slips.

What's up Rob???????? Are you going to make some 8 second passes with Mikes car for us when it's ready?
