Tick noise from engine
My Z06's engine ticks... sounds like it needs oil... but the oil is fine. It sounds like the valves are clicking... its very noticable.
does any one else have this problem. 08 Z06 7k miles

LSX engines are aluminum, LSX engines are pushrod (not OHC). Both of these things contributes to superflous noise. Along with of course injectors, etc. I don't know if LS3/LS7's have piston slap or not anymore.
I know my LS1 slaps, ticks, etc. Especially right after an oil change for about 500 miles. However, I have 145K miles on that engine and it's strong as hell and only uses 1qt/4500 miles, which it has done since 72K miles when I bought it. LSX engines are G2G, even if they are a bit noisy.

When does it tick? All the time, or a certain RPM range?
I had a significant tick on my '07, and it turned out to be the o-ring in the dry sump. It was most noticeable between 1200-1800 rpm, so 30 mph in 3rd, 40 mph in 4th. The o-ring was replaced, and the noise is gone.

I guess I have a defective motor in my 09 Z06, as it doesn't tick. Do you think GM will give me a new engine so I will have the normal tick....tick...tick?
