Default GMPP Refund?

I believe I read somwhere that you could terminate a purchased GMPP extended warranty for a prorated credit. Does anyone have any experience or intelligence on this subject?

TIA

Al

I had one on my '03 when I traded it in for my Z. They sent me a check for the remainder of the warranty. It was really pretty easy. I was shocked that is was so easy. Call the people you purchased the warranty from and they can get the ball rolling. It didn't even take that long to get the check. Good luck.

You should be able to get a refund on the un-used portion, without a problem.

I had the GM extended warranty on my '04 Z and traded it in on my '07.

I even told the dealership that the extended warranty could go with the car.

About a couple of weeks later, I got a check in the mail for the unused portion of the warranty.

I did nothing to get it back, it just came in the mail.

I'm not complaining either.

The only problem is that the car will no longer be able to get an extended warranty through GM. If you are selling it to someone, you may want to ask the buyer if they will pay you the difference to keep the warranty in place. I think the extended warranty is transferable?

cost me $50 to transfer the GMPP warranty from the previous owner. I did it last month and it took about a week for the paper work to go through. I figured it was worth it since it's good till Dec '12. I don't think it would be worth canceling because the previous owner gave me the receipts for the warranty and I think it was around 1500$

Within the first 60 days you get a full refund. After that it is prorated with the third month being a significant drop from the full 60 day amount. Despite what the paperwork says you don't need to talk to a dealer to get the refund. Just call GMPP and they will handle the transaction.

I got a refund on mine since I voided the crap out of it. There's a form that you have to fill out, and then you need a dealer to verify the mileage on the vehicle. After that, you submit the form to the dealership you got the car from, and in a couple weeks, GM sends you a check.

Default Thanks all for the info...

sounds like a fairly straight-forward process. I may be selling my Z with a GMPP good through 1/2014. If I sell, I want to be able to offer prospective buyers a choice. For those who plan to mod the car and void the warranty, I would be happy to reduce the price by the credit I receive.

Thanks again,

Al
