I bought a used C5 Hurst, and I can honestly say I don't know how it can be improved upon. Mine cost me $60, plus another $60 for a MGW race ****, and I think it is the ultimate shifter setup. IMO there is no reason to spend $250 for something when there is an equal performing alternative for 1/4 the cost.

I had a Hurst on my C5 and it was ok. I've never driven a car with the MGW shifter so I can't comment on it. I put in a Calloway short throw shifter in mine, it is by far the best shifter I've had. I let a friend drive my car and he liked the shifter so much he bought one.

I've had Hurst -- TOO stiff. MGW -- less stiff then the Hurst, very precise, but very difficult to get into reverse. RSD's is a '09+ Z06 shifter cut down and threaded. Throw is perfect. Precise. Smooth. It will be a BIG improvement over stock '07Z shifter.

Used a Hurst on my C5, 40K miles later locked in forth do to broken sync slider pins do to excess force on internals. $2700 later wa-la never again. Also cause confirmed by manufacturer.

I've always ended up switching back to the stock shifter. Had MGW, Hurst, and a Steeda Tri-Ax in my 03 cobra back in the day and stock was where it was at. Since then, I've always used the stock shifter no matter what the car. The key to really fast and smooth shifts is a clutch that disengages properly & very quickly (quartermasters and tiltons - my favorite). You will get used to the shorter throw and in time it wont feel all that short...

I had a Hurst on my C5 also. If the stops were adjusted correctly, there shouldn't have been excess force on the internals.
