[ZR1] ZR1 Road Speed in each Gear

There are two different transmissions that were used in the ZR1 .
The calculations shown in the original posting are correct(even though my calculation show a top speed of 152 in 4th gear and 186 in 5th gear at 6600 RPM) for the original ZR1's and the later ZR1's with the PDE option, but not the later ZR1's with the standard transmission. GM changed the ratios in 5th(from a .81 to .74) and 6th(from .67 to a .50) gear trying to get the fuel economy up to eliminate the gas guzzler tax(which they failed to accomplish, but they did get the amount of the tax reduced).
With the .74 5th gear, the top speed in 5th at 6600 RPM would be 206 MPH.

Ratios:
• (ME2) is now the RPO code for the 6-speed manual transmission for ZR1
For 2012 the ZR1 has two transmission options. The standard ZR1 will have a new transmission(ME2) that has slightly different ratios in first, second and third gears, but major change in ratios in fifth and sixth. This will enable the ZR1 to achieve 22 MPG highway( up 2 MPG) and will decrease the gas guzzler tax.
The performance ZR1, PDE Performance package, with the cup tires, will retain the old transmission(MH3) that was in the ZR1 in 2009, 2010 & 2011, but they are calling it a "close ratio" transmission now. Of course, there will be no change in the highway gas mileage with this option; still 20 MPG.

Well, this excellent graph and analysis answers one question I've had lately....that is why anyone who owns a ZR-1 would want to do performance mods to increase the hp.
The answer is obvious. The car is geared for a top speed of 221 but, alas, is power limited to 205-210. All that additional potential top speed must be the reason for needing more hp. I understand now.
It occurs to me to ask what would happen if a new ZR-1 were to undergo a "narrow body" conversion to the size of the standard coupe. I wonder if elapsed time to speed and/or top speed would improve due to the lowered wind resistance.

Don't want to fly the thing.
