E85 swap with cam only and 11:1 CR worth it???
I have a bolt on/cam zo6 here in Vegas. My gripes are that the car stinks(cam/no cats)and with vararam+100 deg+ traffic+a/c the car runs hotter than I like. I hear e85 will help this. I know that it's about $1 cheaper a gallon(all we have is crap 91) but I here your mpg drops about 25% which I'm at 13 city now. Is their any performance gain with only 11.1 compression? Car makes 530rwhp and thinking on doing ported fast, ported stock tb and e85 conversion.
Should I just stick with 91?

Definitely not a good idea unless you are raising the CR. E85 only has 2/3 the energy/gallon as gasoline - with the stock CR your economy will likely go to about 8-10 and you will lose power.
Just put the cats back on, run some coolant additive like water wetter, and/or get a bigger radiator like dewitts or lg.

I run E85 with the stock heads and compression...not sure if it offers any gains or losses in power since it went on with other mods at the same time. What I do know is that my car runs cooler than before, but my mpg definitely took a turn for the worst....Carlos thinks we can tune some better mpg into her, so we'll see. I will have her back up in Dallas in May to get the heads re-worked and get her re-tuned.

Thanks guys for the responses. I guess I will have to think about head work to up the compression. How much hp/tq gain going to 11:1 to 13:1 on e85?
