Has anyone purchased one of Katech's Stage I, II, or III performance packages? I'd like to hear some feedback if anyone has any. Thanks!
I don't think our Stage 3 customers post on this forum, so I will have to give you my biased opinion. I've driven our Stage 3 ZR1 package. The car pulls like a freight train and doesn't quit. It's one of the fastest cars I've ever driven. That and the 650hp, 2400lb Mosler MT900KR are on par, however I never pushed the Mosler anywhere near it's ability because when driving somebody elses 650hp, 250,000 car with no TC/AH/ABS, you tend to be overly careful. It felt faster than a 760rwhp twin-turbo Z06 that I drove because it's got torque like a light switch, and to push the turbo car you need to go to ludicrous speed. The Stage 3 package offers incredible value for the money at only $7500.

Now that sounds like a heck of a deal there.
Rwhp can be all over the map. Here is a dyno from the package's engine dyno test that we performed. Correction factor is STP, that's why the baseline is higher than 638, but you get the relative comparison.
Considering todays prices and coming from a top rated shop such as yours, IMO that is an excellent deal for a substantial power increase that is not going adversely effect longevity or round town driving.
Do you think if you were to go ahed and do a complete head work up (CNC w/ SS valve facing and seating) and added headers along with a "longer cam" if needed, that you could also use the lingenfelter lower pulley and get by using 93 octane with the added boost ?..... or would that be asking to much ? ( I realize the above labor and parts would double your) price
Hell, such a deal/power increase coming from such a reputable shop like Katech makes my want to go out and trade in my ZO6 for a ZR1 just so I can buy this package!!!
My car has the stage 3 package plus the clutch and American Racing Headers. Car is daily driver and drives like stock until WOT and then you just have to hang on and keep it pointed straight. 7,000 miles with the upgrades and still no trouble. I would highly recommend Katech.

Hey Mike,
How does this ZR1 with the Katch package compare to your old TVS1900 '850hp' MTI Z06?
I am about to purchase a 2011 Zr1, its going straight to Katech for thier Stage 3 package, cant beat thier price and you know the quality will be there. These are the guys that built the engines for the corvette race team that won the 24 hrs of Lemans 4 out of 6 yrs.in the GT2 class.SA.
I have a 2010 ZR1 with only 1K miles on it. Jason....I don't think I can resist. How much longer should I wait for engine break in? I canot even imagine more power.....but i want the stage 3 buddy

We have one in the shop now that we're porting the heads. We'll see if it picks up any extra power. The headers with cats probably don't make any difference. We wouldn't be able to install them on a US car because it's illegal. We might get to the power where we are limited by the converter. If we were building a race car or a car that was for export and the cats were eliminated there might be some power there.
The damper/lower pulley we're using is the ATI. It's the same one LPE is using. We get about 15psi and it runs on 93 octane. The car we have in the shop now has access to race fuel so we're doing a secondary calibration for 100 octane which should be interesting. He'll be able to switch back and forth between calibrations with a Vector powercal cable. We could also do the same with E85 if it's available in your area.
