If exhaust fumes are getting into your car, you will have a much bigger problem than just the smell. Since I installed my B&B long tubes without the cats, the only thing I noticed is that my Z exhaust now smells like my old '56 Chevy. The only time I notice it is after I pull into the garage and close the door. I am noticing it less so I guess I am getting used to it. As a point of interest, I read that the catalytic converters are now so good that the "Hose In The Tailpipe" method is no longer a viable method of suicide: Not enough CO.

In the morning I let my car idle for a few minutes, and it definitely gasses the place up and gets in the cabin. But when driving, even when idling at a long stop light, you can't notice the smell. Only the people behind me can

I don't run cats. I have the 1 7/8 american racing longtubes with borla exhausts. There's a lot of fumes when you sit at a light or during start up. Only way to not smell it is rolling up the windows. Car is also insanely loud and i plan to put the catted xpipe soon

I agree. The reason I went with no cats is that the B&B's bolt to the stock mid-pipe. I replaced my mid-pipe with a titanium mid-pipe from Akropivic and didn't want to cut it up. When I bought the headers, I bought a pair of their 3" HP cats. I am planning to weld them into the stock mid-pipe so I can swap them back and forth for whatever reason I decide. As far as performance concerned, I don't think there is any reason not to run the cats on the street.
