It worked!! Thank you. Advance Auto sold a bracket that replaced the factory one so I didn't have to cut mine but... The battery was too tall to have the 2 metal poles to come through so I had to remove that plastic cradle the battery sits in. All good now. BIG THANKS!!

Default Optima Battery Replacement on 2009 C6 Z06

I wanted to save the original battery hold down so went about it a little differently. Purchased 1 3/8" x 1/16" flat bar which just happened to have holes in the correct place. Bent to fit, painted gloss black and as you can see a perfect fit for <$5.00 and ~10 minutes of time.

Red Tops are junk. Yellows are great though.

I've done this, and on the store counter next day. As for replacement, stick with advice given here on the forum. Unbolt the cables and tie down. Pull up on the left carpet board, and tuck the (+) cable under. Wipe down the battery sides(width), and stick on some duct tape for a lifting handle. Works like a charm. As for the mentioned 800 cca Optima series 78, most better series 78 batteries have this, with the Advance Gold under 38 lb.
