When they replaced all 4 of my rotors they demanded my rotors go in that box and be sent back to them. I wanted to buy one for wall art in the garage. But No No! My new rotors were also sent specifically for my car and were not off the shelf. I assumed they were checked for balance before being sent as they were sent direct to the dealer w/ those instructions.

And your car became smooth as baby's butt.

The dealer called and had my ZR ready. They fixed the console latch and the vibration. I am not going to be able to get the car until next week, so I sent a good freind that has picked my Z06 up for me in the past to get the ZR. It was funny, I text him and asked if he would like to get it and keep it warmed up for me for a few days. He text me back "is a frogs *** watertight" I laughed so hard I shot my drink out of my nose. Anyway I took that as a yes.

I called the dealer to give them his name and told them it was ok to release it to him. I asked what they did about the shake and they told me they warmed the tires by driving the car then did a road force balance. So no new rotors for me. Friend says it drives smooth as butter. Said it was smoother than the Z06. That certainly was not the case when I dropped it off. So I guess they have the shake out of it until we have to take a tire off.

I personally think this is a temp fix at best, but at least it is something.

Yes. Same repair on mine. If you have to change a tire for any reaon you're back to square one. It hides the problem.

Not sure if this was covered already but do Z06's with ceramic rotors have the same vibration issue as the ZR1's?

Yes! Mine is a Zo7. The Brakes, rims, and tires are identical to the ZR1.

Yes....Yes it did!

I've put some miles on it now and it is fine. I will be burnishing these new rotors and pads soon as the weather has warmed.

Mine is also a Z07 -- with the "shakes". I contacted Evan and he spoke to my dealership. I will take it in early next week to have the dealership verify the condition. I have a great working relationship with my dealership. After verification, the dealership and I will discuss the course of action. I WILL NOT allow or accept a road force balance. If the tires and wheels are perfectly balanced, then adding weights to fix another technical issue is, as mentioned, a band-aid and is entirely unacceptable. I parked the car a year ago for the problem (600 miles on the odometer) and I am content to let it sit until I, GM, or another outside party can find (or fess up to) a proper solution. In the end, if I have to pay a bunch to fix the problem myself, then so be it -- it certainly won't help my relationship with GM, and for the last 50 years I've seldom owned anything else.

Default Dear Chev Cust Serv

WHERE ARE YOU?

I wrote you last week and like several of the members here no one has heard back from you despite your logging in to the Forum.

We gave you a chance but it seems like in the past the person behind this screen names seem to come and go and nothing is resolved.

My GM contact tells me you are a real person so could you provide some details exactly what your role here is ?

No need to reply to my PM as my Dealership resolved the issue despite the prior Cust Serv person telling me not GMs problem. My GM contact gave me some good info too so that helped.

What do we need to do to really get some INFO AND the Forum members PMs replied to????????

Thank you (insert name of the day)

Kind of looks like they keep rotating to protect the (you fill in the rest). I have run into familiar Cust. Serv. names from CF on the Cherolet Sonic Owners forum.

No one has ever followed up with me from GM. Other forum members have. Got an invite from Evan but never heard back.

Wonder if this will get me another inquire message?

The bad news is that no one knows how many Z's are affected and it appears that GM doesn't want to know, or if they know, they are not saying.

I'm guessing nearly ALL are or will be affected in one way or another. The ones that are "satisfactory to the owner" now will likely "not be" as soon as their assemblies are disturbed .. such as new tires, remove tires/wheels for whatever reason, etc.
Reasoning:::
- observed issue covering all years
- were told 2012 had validated rotors and improved tire mounting/bal
- broad range of experience of those reporting on CF
