BTW, i had my car in for a tsb a couple of weeks ago and they measured the tire depth (as part of their pre acceptance check)
6/32s all the way around.. That's with approx 30k miles on the tire.
I don't know what that means but the service advisor was impressed.
From the looks of it - I have some nice meat left on the tires.. If I can get 50k out of them - i'll be a happy camper..

My NT-05's are not even in the same ballpark as my new PSS, even though I'll continue to use my NT-05's for HPDE's, they are way down in grip to the 300 tread-wear rating on my PSS in stock Z06 size. The NT-05's were $400 cheaper than the PSS, so factor that into your equation, if you consider non-runflats.

Anyone that says the PS2 is a super grippy tire is on crack. I light those things up like no other without trying. People need to hold down the TC/AH button for 6 seconds so they can realize they aren't experiencing grip from the tires, but TC/AH kicking in.

TC goes off on the first push and is also off in the Comp mode (2nd push). AH only comes into play if you have gotten the car significantly out of shape. In Comp mode it doesn't even kick in if you hang the tail out 3'. The only reason to shut everything off is to do donuts or heavy drifting.

Maybe you shouldn't turn everything off? or maybe you've got $40-60K to throw away ...

I love when people assume you will automatically wreck if you have the systems off. News flash this company named Dodge and they made this car that had no nannies......I think it was called a Viper and man oh man did it makes some good power. I'm pretty sure I still see them driving around so they don't always wreck.

Note the new gen Viper will have those nannies. BTW I read your earlier post as that you always drive with everything off and nearly wreck all the time. With your latest response, I see that is not really what you intended to convey.
My experience in comp mode is that the car gives you plenty of signals that you need to deal with what's going on with plenty of time to correct before the nannies intervene, so I've not experienced your tank slappers. I have been in a student's car when he was in TC=off mode and got the car well out of shape and the nannies ripped the car back straight. He did not have the experience to feel what was going on in time to respond. As the instructor, I did feel what was going on but not with enough time to tell him to deal with it and have him respond correctly.
I have virtually no drag race experience so cannot comment on that aspect of our Z's.

There ya go lol
Yeah in a situation like that the nannies can be great. When someone doesn't do anything except not react when the car gets bent out of shape then the nannies work fine. The second you add your own input in you could say you double the effect of the nannies or in other words you over correct and thats why everything goes crazy. I have had too many years of autox and hard driving that I cannot avoid inputting if the car gets bent out of shape.
As a side note I noticed that people on here always complain that the Z will always "snap back". With everything off the car is just incredibly smooth and predictable.

My first report on them (stock size), two nearby roundabouts: My NT-05s pulled .93G and .98 G in the two, With 15 miles on them the PSS pulled 1.07G and 1.08 G respectively. The PSS ride and noise may be slightly better than the NT-05's . It doesn't rain here in AZ too often, but the tread is 10/32" and looks like it will drain very well.

I have read all of the posts on tires for my 2008 Z06 and I will soon see if I made the right decision. I ordered PSS in the 345/285 sizes and hopefully they will go on Saturday. I have the original GY runflats and I went back and forth if I should stick with the RF. The roads in CT suck and I could feel every bump and groove. I hope these tires will fix some of that. I have the Bilstein shocks from the group buy and they did make a difference. We shall soon see.
