Default How much timing do you feel comfortable with?

So my car is running 27deg. It didnt knock until 28 on 93. That seems like alot to me but you all know more than me about this stuff. My concern is that I get a bad batch of fuel and I start getting knock. I know the knock sensors protect by pulling timing but how risky is it to rely on them?

on a heads/cam car like yours, i dont think you're going to notice much difference in power with 2* here or there. I run 21* on my nitrous tune and make 575/525 at the wheels on motor. we bumped it to 26* just for the heck of it to see how much more i could make on motor and it was only 580/527, so not a huge difference. i would stay on the safe side just in case you do get a bad batch of gas.

Im half tempted to buy HP tuners and run 24 and then change it back to 27 at the track.

I'm quite sure that on all 3 tunes. 2 on a ls-3. 1 on a ls-7
12 degrees was the timing commanded. So the rest is seeming high
to me but im no tuner. These were F/I tunes!

Yea FI builds are more prone to early detonation so you cant throw much timing at them.

Keep raising the timing with new plugs until you see specks of aluminum on them then back it down two degrees to be safe or one degree if you want to take a chance.
