Edmunds, Kelly, NADA have never written a check for a car. I don't know where you can buy a 09 ZR-1 for $73,550? Don't talk yourself out of the car becuase of Edmunds says it's worth $3K less.

That doesnt seem like a bad deal at all! I dont know details about your trade such as miles ect but thats seems like a decent deal.

That's a very good price on the ZR1. Just as an fyi I looked it up in my S/E edition of black book wholesale prices and it came in at 75k. Two weeks ago I saw one bring 80+ on trade in. With a certification, it's even a better deal. The trade value on your car is ok as well.
If you don't want it let me know.
Make sure you test drive it for the vibration issue. If it doesn't have it I think it's a good deal.

Is the lack of launch control and PTM really that big of a deal in the 09?
I really like launch control in my GS, but no car I've ever had before it (including a C5Z) has had it.
Won't active handling generally keep me out of the wall even in competition mode?

To me it wasn't that big of a deal. I had an '09 that also had the Hennessey 705HP package. Once you learn the car you're ok.
But that's just me and my personal thoughts.
it's your call though.

I'm looking at this car:

For this deal:
But after looking at Edmunds, it looks like I may be overpaying?
Is Edmunds smoking crack, or are 09 ZR1s really that low in value now?

As stated earlier, don't let a couple grand get in the way of a deal. Also, you are buying a certified car, with a 12mon/12,000 mile warranty. Plus you are only paying sales tax on the trade difference, which is good. Now don'r post here aging till you own that car!!

PTM is very nice & would love to have it. Launch control not that big a deal if you know how to drive. That said I went with the 09 and it is a great car.

Done.
So I drove the 200 miles to the dealership this afternoon. The salesman was awesome. After a quick test drive, I wasn't immediately in love. I just had doubts.
I parked it in the sun and found all the flaws I could in the paint. Front carbon fiber splitter was damaged, a clearcoat scratch in the left rear quarter panel, and tiny rock chips in the clear coat near the rear brake ducts. I seriously stood there for a good hour going back and forth about the car.
It drove great with nothing obvious (and no vibration). It came with a 12000 mile, 12 month bumper to bumper warranty.. And it was a great deal, but I just couldn't wrap my head around it.
Finally after talking to the sales manager, they decided to sweeten the deal. He had already ordered a new front splitter for the car and would ship it to my house directly. Done. Not a huge win, but it was enough to ease my concerns a bit.
The drive home completely sold the car for me. Within the first 30 minutes of ownership, as I pulled into the gas station (they only sell their used cars with half a tank ), a rather large girl came up to me.
"Excuse me sir"
Crap. Here I am thinking I'm about to get mugged or raped.
"Can I take a picture of your car? It's the most beautiful car I've ever seen."
Wow. I actually read something similar in Motor Trend, but there's something about the Blue Devil that just does it for people.
The 200 mile drive home put all my doubts aside. I am absolutely in love with this car. It has everything my poor little 2LT didn't and more. The power is amazing.. The handling is superb. The ride is comfortable in touring.
One thing though.. I noticed the center console area was getting hot (inside area) and the suspension selector button as well.. Is this normal, or a known issue? Or should I get it looked at? I figured I'd give it a bit before finding a good service dealer (since the place I bought it from is so far).
I finally have my dream car.
