We have a 2008 Nav radio in our 2006. If the car originally came with Onstar, it is plug and play. If the car you are installing Nav into did not have OnStar, you will have to add the microphone in the left hand side A pillar molding and re-program the BCM.

Actually, that is not true. All 2005-2009 Corvette's equiped with NAV use the same part number radio. Most of the functionality changes are in disc, not the radio. A newer version of the disc will have newer features and displays.

so if you put a nav unit from an 05 into an 09 the unit will function correctly with the steering wheel controls and Bluetooth? guess my car is different somehow then....

The BCM has to be re-programmed to know that is has the extra functions. If you order a radio from GM (even the GM accessories add on Nav radio), the same part number is listed from 2005-2009. Did you try adding Nav and it didn't work?

Lot of misinformation posted on this thread .
1 A 2006 Nav 'WILL' work , However if your car has steering wheel controls they won't.
2 To get it to be correct you need a nav out of a 2007 or 2008
number is 15791220 . The nav unit for 2005 to 2006 is 10388269
3 The only difference in a new disc is updated maps , New highways or changes , new subdivisions .
4 If car , Didn't come with onstar you Don't have to program BCM. You do have to install new apillar and mic on drivers side , You can pick up both on ebay pretty cheap.
5 As you can see there are 2 different nav units 05-06, 07-08 on the 15791220 you have to use Tech 2 to first unlock unit then second turn on steering wheel controls ,That's it.
6 Most important your car has to come with the Bose system .
7 you need unit ,disc and gps antenna .
8 To install it you need to know what your doing ,as there is a plug that is taped to wiring harness, that has to be plug into back of unit.
9 Mic wire ,is plugged into harness that's under you drivers side apillar . Remove yours to check .
I know all this because I have installed several.

When you say Onstar ,Do you mean Bluetooth ? The wires you speak of, Are they on the wheel ? The pad on wheel ,left side with the phone on it , If so theses are for Bluetooth no sure if they work with onstar ,maybe someone with a 2008 can chime in . I don't think the wires are in the colum of a 2007 as this wasn't available till 2008 ?

My car is a 2007, and it does have bose and navigation with audio controls on wheel.
I bought a 2012 wheel to fit my car,
And noticed while install the connector coming out of the column had 3 extra wires and both wheel had 3 empty terminals on the connector on the wheels.
