[Z06] GM response to LS7 valve guide issue summary confirmed

They will only warrant their work for 1 year and unlimited miles.
Leaves them another out if you have a problem within that period to say "the failure was other than the work we did".

Glad nothing appears to be wrong with your engine, but without removing the valves and measuring the clearance and reviewing the wear on the tips/stems/guides/seats there isn't enough info to say all is well. Mine looked as clean as yours until we removed the valves.

2. Based on what?
GM has been replacing quite a few heads, for free, based upon a wiggle test -- which does not involve removing the valves or any of the other things you mentioned. Are they doing it wrong?

Snapped off stock hollow stemmed exhaust valve head in the last pic. A completely destroyed engine block in the first pic. 2009. Stock. Just a few days ago. We've seen this, and heard it described in here too many times now.

Eventually, after too many photos and descriptions of the same carnage, complete with missing exhaust valve heads, and you have a pattern.
I don't care which side of this issue you come down on, there have been entirely too many failures depicting the same thing, and one would have to be blind not to see that.
Sure sounds like you are attributing this failure to the same thing which is ??

I have no control over, and cannot, nor will not be responsible for what things "sound like" to you.
BTW, while we're talking, what is your opinion as to what caused this carnage, as you look into the "lumen" of that headless hollow stemmed exhaust valve?
Seriously, if I see a guy bleeding from his chest with multiple stab wounds, and another one standing over him with a bloody knife in one hand, and the stabbing victim's wallet in the other, then my first assessment is not going to be that the guy with the holes in his chest, somehow repeatedly "fell" onto the knife and the guy holding the knife and the wallet, is looking through the wallet for the bleeding guy's insurance information.
We can all add in here, and 2+2=4

I visited my car today :-p
New engine is in place and I'll get her back early next week. Took a week and a half to get GM's decision to go 60/40 so a total of three weeks. The dealership is doing a great job, replacing anything with metal in it. I talked with the service director and neither of us wants to do this again. I wanted to make sure they were being thorough in getting rid of the metal pieces.
I also confirmed the warranty, 3/100 on the crate engine and 12/12 on the connecting components. I'm looking forward to driving the hill country next week!
BTW: I'm a lady and this is my first 'vette. I'm learning a lot from the forum, tremendous amount of information. Thank you

Safety Car
I am sorry this had to happen to you at all but particularly on your first Corvette. I have had quite a few and they are highly tuned so do tend to have problems a lesser car might not. But they also can put a smile on your face that doesn't happen in a Camry.
Thank you for helping out our demographics a bunch also. The prevailing numbers indicate that Corvettes are only owned by old men. We need to change that a lot. Both with more women as owners and more young people in general, yet that segment of the world tends to the BMW segment.

After having this type/level work done, I would make myself a checklist what things to check and look for after having had engine replaced. Techs with the best of intentions sometimes forget things. Maybe inquire with some of the folks whose been there, done that and ask them what to check/look for before you take that drive through the Hill Country...
Good luck.
