Default bolt-on Z06 new time slip

Hey guys,

Thought I would start making more of an appearance on the CorvetteForum. I've been very active in the performance world my whole life, just not posting on the web (lots of forum reading, though).

Anyways, I took my '07 Z06 to the 1/4 mile track yesterday (9.7.12) at Cecil Country Drag-way, in Rising Sun MD. Just wanted to have fun with a few friends, nothing too serious considering the weather and track conditions were poor. I'm pretty happy with the results though!

Mods:

-Dual electric fans on stock radiator
-160* t-stat
-Halltech mf103 intake
-catch-can
-MGW short-throw
-B&B fusion cat-back
-Stock tune, only adjustment is fan temp for 160* t-stat (done with HPTuners by myself)
-345/30/19 NT05R's, stock wheels

Weather/track conditions:

-Track elevation 325'
-Air temperature 78.8*F
-Barometric pressure 29.90 inches Hg
-Density Altitude 1,976'
-Relative Density 94.34%

60'............. 1.879
330'........... 4.997
660'........... 7.522
660’ mph.... 97.43 mph
1000'......... 9.669
1320'......... 11.456
1320’ mph… 128.11 mph

That's a great trap speed for +2000 DA! Colder FALL air and negative DA's and your looking at 13X+ mph trap speeds, get the 60' in the 1.6X and your sitting in the 10 second time slips! Way to go Dude!

Thanks everyone! There's definitely improvement to be had with my 60'. Not to blame the track, but it seemed a LOT more slick then the street. With those NT05R's, I have literally never completely blown off 2nd gear on the street, only a few chirps with 24psi in the tires. At the track I was running 15psi, doing a "medium" sized burn-out in the pit before launching, and a few runs I was sliding lightly side to side all the way through second gear!

Hoping to hit up Atco or English Town in the near future with a better DA. I'll be tuning the car myself with HPTuners and hoping for a 1.6 60' and a 10 sec time slip to show you guys!

Shane

Nice going. We have an atco rental on Sept. 28th where the track is ours for the entire day. $200 and you are welcome to come.

Thank you for the offer! I'm going to hold out on this one, but if you rent again in the spring, I'm game. Planning on a h/c/102, clutch, and hopefully a diff/gears/c5axles setup this November, so I'm saving vacation days to knock it out in one week. Otherwise I would join you!

Nice! That's where we race. Were going to take our shop drag car up there yesterday. But got too busy with work.

Default I wouldnt touch Tune

If you tuned it and its running those traps I wouldn't touch it and 1.8 sixty foot is just not a great take off Z06s usually get 1.6.1.5 on an average skilled driver. I see 11.0 in that car next time just get your sixty foot down and see what you trap and then tune it for an additional ponies. Then adjust for elevation and humidity also. running leaner or tuning leaner does not necessarily make the car run better so give it time.

I agree, the 60' is very poor for my current setup. Like I mentioned too, the track was extremely slick that day, MUCH more slick then the street. They usually prep the track on Wednesdays and then not again until Saturday (assuming there's an event or test and tune). This past week Monday-Thurdays there were several storms and rain showers, so I'm not even sure if they prepped it on Wednesday, but even still, never prep on Friday's (the day I went). I consider myself an "average skilled driver," but don't want to make any excuses, it is what it is.

Either way, the 60' needs work, but honestly don't see that being very difficult at Atco or English Town with a little seat practice. I'm hoping for a 1.6 60' my next time down, by the end of the night.

Also, getting another track day in before I tune the vette would be cool and a much better comparison for before/after, but I'm actually sending my TB out to Tony Mamo tomorrow morning for him to port it. So, I will need a tune when it returns. He's actually been waiting a week for me to ship it out to him, but I've been holding him up for this past Friday track day. He also has a ported FAST 102 manifold waiting for me to ship back with my TB, but I won't be installing that until November.

Thanks for your input/advice, though!

Shane
