Finally after one long month back in the ZR1!!!
I never knew a month could take so long to pass! Here is the story.
Back in June I was diagnosed with Melanoma in my right eye. Needless to say the doctors were concerned that it could had spread to other parts of my body so I was sent to have a full body CT scan which showed multiple nodules in both lungs, lymph nodes, and liver. In late July my oncologist decided that it would be in my best interest to have the two nodules in my right lung removed in order to biopsy and the surgery was scheduled. During the surgery they found a third nodule so all three were removed. Thankfully, it turned out being three inflamed lymph nodes and the biopsy showed no sign of cancer. Sadly however during the surgery a nerve was severed which left me in extreme pain in my upper abdomen. So, for the past month I have been on narcotic pain medication and under orders not to drive or operate machinery.
Last week my doctor changed my medication and even though I have some pain it is now manageable and I have been given the green light to return to work and even better, back to driving! On top of that the weather this week has been beautiful so I am once again burning up the highway!!! I can not even describe to you how hard it has been to stand staring at my car sitting in the garage and not being able to drive it. I have never been one to sit around the house and do nothing, especially for a freaking month. Needless to say I have been climbing the walls and driving my wife insane. Sorry, but I just had to share my excitement with everyone!!!

I feel 100% better knowing that it has not spread but I'm still not out of the woods. Next Tuesday I have to return to the Duke Eye Center and they are going to decide how to proceed in dealing with the tumor in my eye. I can tell that my vision has gotten worse in the past two months. The doctor said that he is pretty sure they can save my eye however I will probably loose even more of my vision in the process. Thankfully I still have one good eye left. All the more reason to get out and enjoy every minute I can!
