I have been a passive observer of these valve guide post's probably like many other's I don't have the expertise to add anything to them.Since my warranty will expire march of 13 and I live in florida extending the warranty seems to be a mute point.
It apears to me that those who have went the ss valve route have very little miles on them to say that is the cure.I have 42k on mine now without any issues. It really has me scatching my head as which way to go here just wish there was a diffenitive answer

The question that needs to be asked is.........
Has anyone who had out of tolerance stock ti valves at xxxxx miles and then switched to ss valves measured tolerances after the "fix" and a similar amount of miles on the ss valves

Like the thread title says, some of us thought it a good idea to get a feel for how many on this forum have changed from the OEM hollow stemmed exhaust valves, over to a solid stainless exhaust valve.
I figure this will give us information on two fronts.
It will let us know how many have any sort of mileage on this type of setup as well as draw attention to any issues as a result.
Also, those of us who have switched to bronze valve guides, but stuck with the stock exhaust valves, it would be good to hear from you too.
If you've gone to bronze guides, then if your stock guides were in spec or out of spec, when you changed to bronze guides, well then post that information up too.
Thanks

In that endeavor, it may turn out that some may be local to you, some may have opinions you respect, some you may want to PM and ask questions.
The idea is to first get an approximate idea as to how many are running them, and to give those contemplating doing the same a chance to question them about any quirks, issues, or other concerns and get answers and feedback from people who actually run these type setups.
This way, it might assist you in your decision making process whether you are going to extend the warranty, or go another route.
Perhaps the best chance to have it answered, would be to start your own thread asking it.
Good luck.

I was not trying to highjack your thread or dismiss your interest for information concerning this matter. If I came across that way I apologize. I appreciate the efforts you have made concerning this matter and once I peel the skin back on mine I will be using the information that I have learned from your threads to have a much better plan than I would have had otherwise.

rev ss exhaust with bronze guides and stock intakes. 1 year and 8000 miles with the set up. gm engineering only lasted 55000 miles in my car. I am not impressed with that result.

I have SS valves in now....after a complete engine rebuild from my stock #7 cylinder exhaust valve failing 2 weeks after a cam install. Happened back in Nov '11.
If you have stock exhaust valves it's simply a game of Russian roulette.

Good to see a large pool of owners running Solid Stainless valves and bronze guides. Once some miles accumulate, hopefully we'll get an accurate picture of the longevity of such a setup.

Ryne is the owner of CMS. I know he has bronze/SS in his car which he races. He has advised me to do my heads
And C5Lion I raced with this weekend and he has SS/Bronze
I can PM these guys for you if they don't check in.

Uh, how many ZO6 owners know better roller cams (mechanical and hydraulic) are manufactured from carburized 8620 alloy steel billet cores that have a superior surface (and subsurface) durability that prevents spalling (particles flaking --typically 60° down from the nose of the cam) that can be found on 5150 alloy and other cam cores?
I'm inclined to defer to GM's engineering talent on LS7 valves and related materials science expertise. The conspiracy theorists flogging LS7 valve train deficiencies are need to move on ...

Well I know Richie has a Katech build and therefore likely stock valves.

Yes, I have the WCCH treatment. SS Ex valves, bronze guides, patriot springs.
I haven't put a lot of miles on the car since we did it. I still runs like a bat-o-hell and the 6 year old mufflers just get "better" with age. But there's really nothing to report out of the ordinary.
