The result is not surprising at all. Viper is no contender to ZR1 with its advanced brakes and suspension

The Gen 4 is dead. Doesnt count anymore. Its what the new Viper does now. I like both cars a lot, but the ZR1 is king

You can argue that there might be better drivers for Viper out there, but I think Randy Pobst is a pretty good driver who could better or match anyone given time in the car, and having one driver test all these cars through years provides a good way to compare.

I would honestly not count ACR version as a regular car, since it is more race car than anything. ZR1 can also do wonders with a wing in the size of my big-screen TV, but I would never buy such a car, and GM would never produce such a Corvette for the streets in my opinion.

Nice to have bragging rights. It should help to quell some of the desire for a new C7. IMHO the new Viper is gorgeous. I personally (and this may show my age) really like the somewhat "retro" Ferrariesque look that they have now maintained for their second and third generations. Wish that I could afford to keep the ZR1 and buy both a new Viper and a new C7. But who's complaining?

That is just amazing to me that the 2013 ZR1 which is FIVE model years into it's production cycle and is soon to be discontinued just WHIPPED the brand new 2013 Viper GTS. I am honestly shocked.
I have a '10 ZR1 with stickies, so I am well aware of how capable it is in the track, but you would have thought SRT would have benchmarked and clearly surpassed the ZR1, especially in GTS trim. Wow, just wow.
I guess it shows how completely world-class the ZR1 is on a performance level and it makes me so excited to look forward to the C7 ZR1. I have a feeling it's not going to be cheap, but it's going to be not only world-class, but world-beating on many levels.

Power to weight ration basically the same. ZR's suspension and PTM system apparently superior to the Vipers' suspension.
Oh and those fabulous brakes.
Hat tip to team Corvette. The ZR is a monster and worthy of both the record and the concomittant respect that comes with it.
I'd like to see the smiles on team vette's faces today. Gotta feel good as they put the finishing touches on the C7.

Just goes to show you that the ZR1 will run with, and beat most anything any other manufacturer has to offer when it pertains to showroom stock. It's a tried and tested supercar. Dollar for dollar, you cannot beat it.

We now have 3 different track lap times where the ZR1 and ACR have been tested on the factory Pilot Sport Cups; the Ring, VIR, and Laguna Seca. The ZR1 time is faster at 2 of the 3 tracks. I still wish there could have been a true head to head comparison with the ACR done at some point but I think we only see a few more comparisons with the '13 Viper before it goes out of production.

Hey, we even kicked the Viper's butt on cargo space: 22 cu ft to 14.7 cu ft. Take that MoPar fans!
On a more serious note, such rivalries only make the breeds better. Hats off to SRT for making a fine sports car and competitor to the Corvette. Hats off to GM for making the (2009-2013) ZR1...a car that I love regardless of how it compares.
