Yep, good point. Vector Motorsports does most of their in car tuning.

This is pretty much the last place I would ask for advice.. Unless I was inquiring about driving shoes.

Someone like the Vette Doctors would have a much more valid opinion here. I did AR headers and one of their tunes and it made a world of difference. And when I did about 15 MODs to my 05' coupe, I got my warranty easily honored, including two clutch jobs. Often times, it's your relationship you have with your dealer that makes the difference as far as warranty work is done. (see 05' MODs in sig.)

Whether that extra .25 miles per gallon is worth it though is up to you...

A tune was recently performed on an 2011 Z06 on Horse Power TV. They managed 504 hp at the rear wheels on a stock car. I can't remember the torque numbers and maybe someone can help here. Would you feel 504 at the rear tires? You bet you would. Would I have a Z tuned without changing the heads first? You bet I wouldn't.

Don't you mean internet?
Tim
PS and by the way I had an email tune from Jim at Halltech 58k ago.
Everything else bone stock and let me tell you throttle response is nice and crisp now.
With that being said, not many people I would trust to tune my car.

Well, I'll chime in real quick. Last year I had an 07 Z06. Bought it stock with 7k miles. I bought a used vararam from a forum member for 200 bucks and got the car tuned in trade of a FAST 92 that I bought for my old GTO. So for around 600 bucks I had a tuned Z06 with a CAI.
I brought it to a tuner by me who is excellent. Very smart guy. Baseline the car dyno'd around 420whp. After it was tuned it made 473/432.
I felt like the car was soo much faster after that. Pulled a lot harder and surprised a lot of people in my area. TO THIS DAY people I know still say "oh yeah your pretty much stock Z06" sarcastically. Everyone thought I was spraying.
After I buy another C6Z within the upcoming months, knowing what I know now, I will definitely perform head work before doing anything else.
Hope this helps. My car was an 07 out of warranty (which is why I got rid of it). On a 2011 Idk what I would do.

Didn't say it was true. Just what they stated and showed on the tube.
Now if I had been there.......I still wouldn't know if some other little tick was or wasn't done. If you know the facts perhaps you can enlighten us.......or not.... I mean it may not be true!

50-60 RWHP from tune only? right.
Throttle response is changed because most tunes change the way the drive-by-wire throttle blade responds. The tune also tones down the "nanny" mode.

I wouldn't go with a canned or mail order tune, knowing what I do after tweaking my car. There's a lot more to it then timing tables and AFR.
A good tuner along with a load cell dyno can perk this car up a bit. I would not however expect an increase in fuel economy. When you are putting around on the highway, expected good economy, the ecm will be in closed loop. When in closed loop, the fuel trims pull / add fuel to maintain an optimum fuel air ratio of 14.7. It doesn't get better than that. Tuners do not arbitrarily move this set point either, as that takes a fair amount of work. You can move timing a bit, maybe advance it in the lower rpm / cly arm mass cells, but crap, it's already silly advanced from the factory.
What the tuner can do to pick up some power, is to optimise timing in the higher rpm / higher cyl arm cells to improve throttle response and pick up a couple more ponies under WOT conditions. Then there's torque management, power enrichment tables, etc... All these little tweaks will improve performance, as long as the tuner doesn't go nuts.
But as stated, is it really worth loosing your warranty? I wouldn't screw with it and take that risk, in the event you actually need a warranty some day.
