First of all. Hi everyone new z06 owner as of Saturday. Stepped up from a c5 vert. Love the new z but I have found what I consider a major design flaw.
So I was getting dinner at Taco Bell tonight ( z06 s are not cheap, need to cut costs). And I went through drive through paid
and bang !!!!!!!
the cashier hands me an extra large baha blast. I put it in the center console cup holder which is deep enough to actually hold something without it tipping over as soon as I coast forward. Wow I thought design improvement. But then. I pull out of the drive through and go to shift into 2nd.
And...... Bang!!!!
I graze my knuckle across the cup as I try to shift to 5th. Wtf , gm engineered a cup holder that sits right where my big gulp goes while I'm trying to shift. Huge fail gm. This is nearly bad enough for me to never buy a gm product ever again.
46k. No valve drop yet. Will do DIY wiggle test over ohio winter

Check out the Forum vendors. They have a double cupholder that matches the ebony interior perfectly that fits to the side of the passengers left knee. Takes about 2 seconds to install and works perfectly well.
My OEM cupholder only holds my cell phone now. All drinks are in the holder in the passenger foot well.
However those of us that also have owned a C5 Z06 know perfectly well what you meant when you mentioned the older Corvettes 10 mm deep cupholders from that model.

Us icon, now that its getting cold here in the north east my cup holders will look like that on Friday nights as the car sits in the garage all winter. I can pretend to shift gears and tune out.

That's what I'm now doing. The snow is on the ground as I type and the Vette won't see outside daylight for the next 5 months. Ugh...

Don't have a C6, but I will agree that the cup holder in my C5 is basically worthless for holding a drink securely. That was a wise tip to only put drinks that have a screw on cap in the cup holder. I learned that lesson many years ago.

If you are wanting to cut costs, don't idle a 7.0 litre V8 through a drive through. Don't order garbage *** food when you can make a delicious meal at home for less than $1 per person. Or if you to order tb then order a couple bean burritos and a cup of water. Jus sayin...

Ha! Had my Z one day and punched a coffee across the cabin shifting into Reverse. Man was I pissed. This alone made me look into short throw shifters. BTW would that help? I def have looked into the aux cup holder, but that would put things closer to my GF, who is like a newborn puppy on ice and she would punt it into the back cargo space for safe keeping, But I must have drinkage in the car, you dehydrate in a a very hot minute in this state.

The Cup Buddy cup holder "depressions" are actually quite deep. You'd be hard pressed to actually knock a container over if it was set in one.

I'm 50 miles north of Milwaukee, got 1.5" Monday & it's almost gone so there's a few more days before we really get blasted. But when the real dump happens the cover & tender go on 'til Spring.
But, not now!
