[Z06] Why No LS7 in C7Z06

Exactly.

As an added bonus, Juechter insists that the final calibration of the LT4 will make the LS9 (the outgoing ZR1 engine) feel like it has no bottom end.

That's because they finally bumped the compression up. That's why ZR1's always felt lazy. Not enough compression for a positive deisplacement blower. A step in the right direction, but the verdict is still out on the tiny blower. Unless it's just a scheme by GM to mark up a different version with the 2.3 to make more money.

Well, I was interested to see a post in the C7 Z section (where I am an infrequent visitor) referring to a recent Car & Driver (C&D) article on the new Z. It seems that C&D was speculating the new Z will weigh in between 3600-3700 lbs! The Forum poster said, well thank goodness it will have 625+ h/p if that's true.
Well, thank goodness that my '10 Z (originally at 3167 now about 3050 lbs) also has 625 h/p and 608 torque. I am guessing given the weight of a Z51 at over 3400 lbs, the new Z will tip the scales at 3550 to 3600 lbs. Yep, all the new technology is fine, upgraded interior, etc, but real progress to me would have been a smaller, lighter car, not a larger, heavier one. I'm thinking that I like my chances against one of the new dreadnoughts on the street or track.
I don't have MSRC, but I do have Pfadt Johnny O'Connell and Michelin Pilot Super Sports under the car, so maybe ok there.
Not sure why the new interior would be so much heavier? For example, I have the 3LZ interior and after a 5 month tortuous wait, finally got my APSIS Nappa Leather, super alcantera seats installed and not only do they have all the extras (airbags, full power, heat, etc) there is hardly any weight difference. Plus, they make even the new standard C7 seats look like folding chairs.
Yep, keeping my 427.

I didn't read the whole thread, but IMO a smaller displacement DOHC engine pushing 9 or 10k rpm would have been magnificent. To heck with the gas guzzler tax.
I wonder if there are some .gov cronies still left in GM calling the shots on efficiency.

I can't help but wonder about the impact on fuel economy and performance if the C7 Z06 had lost 200 lbs. instead of gaining 300 lbs. while retaining the LS7.
