[Z06] C7 Z06, anybody?

I'm on the list, sold my 08 Z06 in April. Picked up a supercharged C5Z to tide me over.
Hard to have solid opinions on the C7Z since it's not out yet. But you can imagine I'm sure.

Nope, not here.
GM bent us Z06 owners over the table on the LS7 issue. I am done with the General.
Always loved Vipers. Waiting to see what the redesigned Viper will become. Would also consider, can't believe I am going to write this, a Porsche 911 variant. I have over $80K saved up for a second toy. The longer I wait, the more I save and less I need to finance down the road.
Keeping my C6 Z06, just do not want another one. GM lost a customer here.

That's what I did. Bought a eight year old garage queen with 15k miles on it last year. It now has 16k on it. Still a garage queen.

Did you buy your Z06 new?

I'm looking forward to the new Z.
It's going to be a hell of a machine.

Willie, I'm pretty sure there's no good way to respond to that, so I'm going to sidestep it like it's a live mine. Also, as you know Mr. Smartazz, I'm waiting to see what that new DSOM looks like before I try to picture the car in my garage. The bride doesn't really want another blue Vette.

Ken,
How did you get the valve issue taken care of? under factory warranty or aftermarket warranty? I have an aftermarket warranty that Dennis Fitchner sold me that is good for another 3 years, but they will not take care of the "valve issue" unless I drop a valve. I called them and asked if I can bring the car into a local dealer and take care of that issue as a preventitive type thing instead of waiting for a disaster to happen. they told me that they could not do a preventitive fix.

I waited until my car was almost out of warranty and chose course of action may on this Forum have taken.
I had the heads rebuilt and ported using the Ferra hollow core valves, added a cam and headers. Car dynos---560hp and 515trq. I am very happy with the results.

Just taking my money elsewhere. Additionally, I want some variety in my garage.
"Best motor in history", did you bump your head? I think not.

Even if I had the money, don't know I would spend close to 6 figures on any GM product ever..let's not forget no matter how great the C7Z is ..most people are stuck with having them serviced by the average Chevy Stealership ...you still read about "techs" who can't even do an oil change correctly on a dry sump system... factor in the head problems with the LS7 and GM's handling of that..then the debacle in the way they tried to cover up the ignition switch problem in thousands of other vehicles.. I have no faith in GM . I love Corvette don't get me wrong..excited about the performance it will put down and kudos to some of the design and engineering , but the only thing I'd ever buy is a used Corvette , never a new one and especially close to 6 figures
I always felt bad seeing a ZR1 owner who probably spent north of 90k on his/her car having to bring it in to a dealer for service

The fact that GM never acknowledged the issue and left the owners to deal with a design/materials/manufacturing problem does not engender owner loyalty.

Awhile back, I needed to buy another daily driver and until that time, I had only bought GM. Not this time. And what caused me to change course was the LS7 issue. Then later, I see the ignition issue. They (GM) knew it. Some peeps lost their life over it.
I definitely have an opinion about that, but, that's for another time. I know I made the right decision w/the daily driver.
If I buy a C7, I do not think I will ever buy another new one (Add: Vette)..... I'm thinking of going to the classic models (60's/early 70's-too tall for a C1). Although I don't remember squat about old engines anymore...points, condensers, carbs...

I have no plans to go to a C7 Z, my 08 Z is plenty of fun for me and I like the looks of it much better than the C7. I bought my 08 used this year with 22K miles, bought an extended warranty just in case, so I will worry about the heads when the warranty comes close to expiring.

I wouldn't buy any new GM product, let alone one that's going to command well over 100k to get into.
I love my Z06, but I'm not in a position to trust a company that acts like GM with that much of my hard earned.

So people are thinking you have a C7 Z06? Obviously those people aren't familiar with Corvettes otherwise they would know it's not a C7 and the C7 Z06 isn't even available yet. So it amazes me that people who really don't know Corvettes would even think that you would have a C7 Z06.

Don't care for the C7 exterior design and I can add a E-Force puffer to my 09 Z06 for under $10,000 and have 657 HP and still be 150 pounds lighter that the C7 Z06. That's a lot cheaper than spending around $40,000(plus my Z06 in trade) just to put my butt into a C7.

I totally agree, i believe because i have katech front splitter and rear spoiler with HREs on large michelins and she sits LOW. That some think they are seeing a diff corvette than they are used to seeing. And yes these are peeps who dont know what they are looking at. But the C7 has opened up a new buyer, new Fans so to speak. I simply take it as a compliment and smile. I am very happy that the new C7 is doing so well. But as many of us on this forum believe, the sexy rounded shape of our C6Zs is and will allways be a Stunning design. Before the C7, the avg age of a Z06 buyer was 54. I was 54 when i bought mine. But the avg age of the new C7 is running in the 30s and 40s. And thats what GM needs for the new vette to turn a profit and be a viable part of GMs line up for years to come.

supercharged viper may be coming.........750+ hp.......I think some will cross over now. Links already surfacing on this site and others AND I believe it as Chryco won't let the 707hp car be their top dog for long

Doubt it. Although the looks of the C7 are starting to grow on me, especially that wide-body so-called "Z06", I still find myself admiring the wide-body C6s. Mine sits in the garage more often than not lately with work and other obligations, but I see them on the road around my area all the time, and each time I see one coming at me, I think to myself, "Man, that looks mean as hell."
If the stars align and they make a Grand Sport version in the next four years, I'd consider parking it next to my C6Z in the form of a convertible. But with over 650 horses on tap in my much lighter, naturally aspirated '08 C6Z, there's nothing compelling about the new Z06. Mid engined ZR1? That might be a whole different story. We shall see.
