Needle bearings found on drain plug
So I have my 06 in for the heads to be fixed and the said they found a few needle bearings on the drain plug. They said just needed to replace the rockers and all would be good. Should I be worried that their are other needle bearings floating around in my engine or is it fine to just change the rockers and that takes care of it?

Have they told you which rocker arm came apart, or if there were more than one that came apart?

I would make sure that all the needle bearings are accounted for. first find out how many are missing then count the ones in the oil pan. If you can't account for all the needle bearings, all is not lost. I can say with 99% certainty that the unaccounted needle bearings have no chance of being sucked up by the oil pick-up tube, sent to the oil pump and filter and circulated thru the engine oil galleries, if that's what your worried about.

I've run int o the same thing. The last two oil changes I have flound a needle bearing stuck to the drain plug. I have upgraded to the CHE trunion kit a while back so im not worried and the heads have been off. If they are in your pan the pick up screen wont allow it to be sucked up and it;s pretty common in an LS to find needle bearings on drain plug. Just make sure you upgrade to a good trunion kit like CHE and pull valve covers and inspect thoroughly for anymore needle bearings. Not as big a deal as you think. Since you are having the heads pulled and fixed I def wouldnt worry about it

If I recall reading this, the earlier (06 to maybe 08?) has the factory one as magnetic. Later GM went to a std one as every little bit caught on the plug caused an uproar in the corvette world.
I could be wrong, again recall reading about this. So if true, buy an early oem plugs.

Screen on the oil pump pickup is so fine a needle bearing will just float around in the pan.
