Extended and upgraded my 2008 427 LE Z06 from a GMPP to a GMEPP with Ken yesterday. I am now covered until 2022 and do not have to concern myself with the Valve Guide Issue. I came out way ahead of the game with the first GMPP as I had several issues. I hope I never have to use the GMEPP, but it is great knowing it is there if needed.
Thanks Ken
Thanks Ken

Just got the GMEPP plan from Ken and am protected until mid-2022. It takes a load off and finally I can drive with confidence (comfort). Hope I never have to use it, but having the Plan available is sweet. Road trip here we come.
Thank you Ken!
Thank you Ken!

Ken,
What are the differences between the GMPP Major Guard Policy and the closest equivalent GMEPP policy?

I would also like to know the difference between the two plans. I can not find any information on the gmepp plan online . I'm interested in the gmepp due to my car being out of bumper to bumper warranty time frame.

I bought the GMEPP for my Yukon Denali. The GMPP is owned and operated by a financial institution, not GM. It's future is sketchy at best. The GMEPP is owned and operated by GM. It also (at least to me) has better coverage for less $$.

Undy, your comment "It's future is sketchy at best." interests me.
Would you care the explain this or provide a link to something informative on it? I have almost 4 years left on my GMPP and this raises some concern.
Thanks, for anything you care to share.

Purchased my GMPP in 4/2012 from Ken, and I intend on extending before it expires in 4/2016.

Below is a cut and paste on the differences in the plans as supplied to me by Ken.
"If you reside in any of the following states you are not eligible for a GM Protection Plan, but you are eligible for a Chevrolet Protection Plan:
Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, and Florida.
Differences between GMPP and the new Chevrolet Protection Plan:
GMPP is a product of Ally Bank
Chevrolet Protection Plan (GMEPP) is a product of General Motors
Chevrolet Protection Plan (GMEPP) offers the same coverage as GMPP with these additional benefits:
1) A higher rental car reimbursement rate of $40/day
2) A higher towing reimbursement rate of $150/occurrence
3) Trip interruption coverage of $200/day
4) Reimbursement of up to $35 for locksmith services
5) Coverage for ride control suspension"
I was also a little concerned over "Undy" comment on "sketchy at best". Also the prices given to me were not always in favor of GMEPP. It depends on the coverage you desire. I have the GMPP on my 09Z and will probably go with it again.

Here's an excerpt from another site:
"In Summary, GM owned GMAC for generations and in bankruptcy in 08/09 GM lost a large percentage of GMAC in restructuring. GMAC became Ally Bank/Auto and by December 2013 GM owned 0% of Ally. Ally owns the GM Protection Plan (GMPP) and thus GM no longer owns Ally's GMPP plan that GM previously owned for 30 years. GM tried to buy Ally and the GMPP plan back after bankruptcy and a deal could not be reached; therefore GM came out with their own plan called the Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac Extended Protection Plan Platinum by GM (GMEPP) in late 2013. Since the new GMEPP plan (100% owned by GM) is a competitor to the GMPP plan (100% owned by Ally) GM is not going to re-issue Ally/GMPP's licenses to use the GM name, and GMPP looses all access to GM Dealership computer systems after 2016. Ally is currently designing new programs to be announced in 2015 to help with the loss of access to GM computer systems after 2016."
The dealer I bought my warranty from was very concerned about the future of Ally due to GM internal intell he'd received. He emphatically advised me to go with the GMEPP. The exact same policy was $200 cheaper with GMEPP.

Thanks for the insight on Ally bank and GMPP. Based on the information provided to me by the OP, I did not have the same results on the priciing.
The GMEPP for my 09Z with < 22k miles (100 deductible and 36/36000) was $2875
The GMPP Major guard for the same period and deductible was $1765!
Perhaps I will go to my local dealer and see if I can bargain with him and get his insight. Worth looking into.

for those of you with questions for Ken, email him. I emailed him Monday evening and had purchased a policy Tuesday evening.
he's very easy to deal with, just email the address he listed at the top of this thread. I suspect his phone works as well.
